Edit: Owner did in fact contact me and was very apologetic both for the customer service and the foreign body. I appreciate them reaching out to help make this right, and luckily as far as the plastic it does sound like getting it in my shake was a one off, likely from the manufacturer bucket and not their machines. While I am still somewhat hesitant to return, I will now say that I would recommend you check this place out for yourself to see if it's for you. The food itself tasted good. Although I suggest you eat in if you visit, there aren't really any cups for getting ice cream to go without it causing a mess. Thank you to the owners for the apology and for making the situation right.
Original review: I am actually so disgusted and disappointed with Yelo'd. It was our first time visiting. The girls helping us choose ice cream were great. The girl at the till and the product was not. Everything afterwards went SO downhill.
We asked for 2 scoops in a cup to go. Immediately their cups are WAY too small for two scoops. It starts melting and dripping over the sides almost immediately even though it's a cool night. My mom gets her two scoops in a cone, but is nervous hers will make a mess on the way home in the car, so she asks the girl at the till for a COFFEE cup to transport it safely. The girl brings her back another small to go ice cream cup instead of the coffee cup we asked for (again, the ice cream cups are already too small for two scoops nevermind two scoops and a cone.) My mom kindly mentions again that she wanted a COFFEE cup and not the small ice cream cups because she is nervous about the ice cream dripping. My mom offers to BUY a coffee cup if that's the reason they won't give her one. She mentions she has to use her cane as well and the ice cream in the small cup will likely drip while she holds it. The girl at the till just says "it'll be fine, have a good day", and dismisses my mom. We pay. I leave a $1 tip for the girls who let us try a few flavours, but I never get a receipt so we leave after paying. I got a chocolate milkshake, which tastes good, albeit thin. Our total is $28 for two ice creams, a cookie and a milkshake. It's around 10pm.
On the drive home, a ten minute drive, five minutes in, the ice cream starts overflowing over the sides of the small cups as it melts onto my mom's lap, as expected. BUT THEN. I swallow something hard and sharp. I assume it was probably an ice chip or something even though the rest of the drink is thin and milky. I keep drinking. Another shard that feels the same ends up in my mouth, and this time I catch it with my teeth and spit it out. It is a hard white piece of plastic IN MY MILKSHAKE. and I had just swallowed more of the plastic a moment before! Instantly sick to my stomach. We got home within ten minutes of leaving Yelo'd, covered in ice cream and having ingested foreign material.
Incredibly unprofessional of them in the restaurant and I'm sick thinking about the plastic I drank. For the price, the lack of compassion and the experience in all was AWFUL.
**Owners have contacted me so this last paragraph has been removed. Please see update at top. I now recommend you visit and make your own deductions...
Read moreEdit: Jan 15: The bottom line is your employee scooped 2 other flavours into pints for me on Saturday and told me that I can come back on Sunday for the other flavors. They did not give a specific time Sunday and I shouldn’t have to fact check them by looking at your social media posts.
So what does any half decent business owner do about this? Apparently it’s to screenshot this review and post a rant about it on your IG story. Very professional. Anyone reading this go look at the other 1 star reviews and read the owners responses and you’ll see what they really are like.
And no, I’m not “coming at you” or trying to “hurt a small business”. May I remind you I had bought 2 pints of your ice cream on Saturday and then came back the very next day to buy more? If I didn’t feel appreciated as a customer from the situation, getting my review posted on your social media definitely helped! Thanks Yelo’d for being so professional!

I went into Yelo'd yesterday (sat Jan 13) for their cold weather discount promotion and specifically wanted to get pints of their lunar new years flavors. The employee said they weren't able to scoop me a pint from their bulk inventory that day but if I came back tomorrow they can scoop pints for me since that is when their shipment of pints comes in. I grabbed two pints before I left and had intended to go back the next day for their LNY flavors. Today (sun Jan 14) I brave the cold weather of -36C and go to Yelo'd shortly after they opened. Their shipment of pints hasnt arrived yet but because I drove 30 minutes one way to get there, I just wanted them to scoop me a pint from their bulk inventory. But I guess the extreme cold weather and long drive doesn't matter to the owners because they would not oblige. I asked the employee (different from yesterday) to talk to their manager and double check (i know the employees only have so much say) but still received a resounding no. I'm very disappointed in this customer service and feel unappreciated as a customer since we regularly make the trips to Yelo'd for the past several years, even...
