I like this place. I wouldn't go here as a night out, but at the right times, it's a good place to hang out. The atmosphere varies wildly depending on the day. On some nights it's louder and is in line with what you'd expect a university bar to be like, and sometimes it's very relaxed, and you can even find some people using it as a study spot (not something I would consider or recommend, but you do you as long as it's not busy and no one needs the table). Sometimes it's somewhere in between or a weird mix of both. It's not always predictable, but I've found that to hit the quieter days that I prefer, early evening during exam season at school is best, and summer in general is chiller than the main academic year. Music can be on the loud side some nights (not necessarily related to how busy they are), but seats by the door are quieter. The food is good, often surprisingly good. The menu items are well thought-out and tasty, and nicely presented. It's not a veg-centric establishment but there's lots of choices for vegans that are actually interesting and substantial. I had a lot of stuff off the old menu, they switched around the menu in 2024 and I’ve just been back once since and tried the harissa cauliflower, and the quality was the same as I remember. They make good cocktails and have a good list of local draft beers on tap. The house beer, the thunderbird lager, is actually pretty good. Sometimes the staff is nice, sometimes I get the vibe that they're too cool to be serving me, but because the only interactions you have with them are when you order and pay at the bar and when they bring your food out, an unenthusiastic bartender doesn't ruin the whole experience. Because of this service style, you can expect to be in and out of here faster than you would at a full service restaurant, but it's not fast food, so dishes still take as much time to prep as they would at a "regular" sit-down place. It's a little pricy. They have an auto service charge which is kind of silly when there’s practically no service but it’s less than the 18-20% you’d be expected to tip at a restaurant with full...

Happy hour in any restaurant results in long wait times to be seated and receive food; however, ensuring that their patrons are safe or feel safe due to the current Covid-19 pandemic should be their main priority.

Being seated outside on the beautiful patio, following all covid guidelines of being 2 metres apart were satisfied. Regardless of whether COVID-19 regulations were met, our table was not sanitized and wiped down properly, and dirty; used dishes were still sitting on the table.

Initially, we understood that it was pretty busy inside and outside on the restaurant's patio, and the servers were trying their best to facilitate all patrons. However, it does not justify how the server did not clear out and sanitize the table until the food came, which was by then (40 minutes) since we ordered the food.

Furthermore, she blankly looked at us after politely asking if she could clear the dishes on the table before eating our food. It was surprising to want to eat in a clean, sanitized area, especially during this pandemic, where cases are starting to rise.

I believe that it's completely understandable to have a long wait time for seating and food while the staff is extremely busy. However, feeling safe in a restaurant and UBC, in general, shouldn't be too...

I really wanted to like my meal tonight, as I've been to the Gallery with friends a few times before and have always had a good time. However, I was very upset with my experience. I ordered the bbq jackfruit sandwich, which is listed very clearly as a menu item. My first issue was how long it took for me to get my food - it wasn't until 30-35 minutes later that it arrived to the table, much after everyone else had received their food. I understand places get busy, but it was still irritating. However, I was most upset to realize (after already starting to eat the sandwich), that they had brought me a pulled pork sandwich instead of my order. Definitely not vegetarian. When I brought the food back to the bar, no one seemed to really know what to do, and they ultimately told me they would make me a new sandwich. At this point, I didn't really want another meal - I just wanted a refund, but I was not offered one. Overall, the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I understand mistakes happen, but incorrectly changing my order of a bbq jackfruit sandwich to a pulled pork sandwich is a big mistake to make. The servers are lucky that I am vegetarian by choice, and that I don't have an allergy or religious reasons for not...

Very large service area. Games. Foosball table. Big patio. Not the least bit crowded for lunch in summertime. They have a limited menu but it has decent variety. Quality of the food is good for a university joint. Beer list contains a good number of local, craft beers. Kids can dine here but no kids menu.

Loved my experience at the Gallery. Ordered burgers with salads and my friends also ordered some chicken wraps and fries. Everything was pretty tasty and well seasoned. Beers were fantastic. Prices a little bit on the high side, especially for a restaurant inside campus, but it’s definitely worth trying.
