The food was alright, I highly recommend nachos. The dessert was slightly overpriced but tastes quit unique. I would not recommend ramen because it’s really salty and doesn’t have much soup. You can get a much better ramen in other restaurants in that area. The issue was the service. They let me and my friend sit at a 4-5 people table first and ask us to move to another table make space for a larger group when we were waiting for the dessert, I was okay at the scene but now I felt violated, because the table that they ask us to move to was available the whole time. They could have asked us to seat at that table in the beginning. Moreover, They never ask how was the food, they never offered to refill the water (btw my cup was empty for 15 min +), it took more than 10 min of wait for us to order, while the minimum percentage of tip is 18% which make me think that they are quite audacious. Their waitlist system is also quite strange because they first told me the wait time was 10 minutes after registered me into their waitlist. I waited outside, in the cold weather, for about 20 min and they still have not texted me so I went inside to ask them. Without checking my name, they directly shows us the table after knowing that I was on the waitlist and I found out that there are at least 2-3 table available that was not reserved. So my friend and I just stood in the snow for nothing? It just feels like that they are either short staffed or don’t know how to work efficiently or both.

I don't love this place but I do LIKE it. The vibe is a little weird because it's a chain bar on campus trying a little too hard to be hip - see all the nonsensical neon signs - but there are lots of big tables so it's a great place to go with big groups even without a reservation. I have had mostly good experiences with the staff being accommodating and attentive, especially in the past year or two (it was a little rough when they first opened). Despite the focus on alcohol, I would say it's family-friendly at any time of day. The food is very good but I do think it's overpriced. The menu is a little all over the place with both classic bar food like burgers and pizza and Asian-inspired food, but they do both pretty well. The Asian stuff has great flavours. It's just that the entrees are all about $25, most apps are $15+ (fries and salad $10-11), and although I would say it's better than average pub food, it's just average Vancouver gastropub food, and in terms of the overall experience, doesn't stand out in comparison to places like Steamworks, Tap & Barrel, or Craft Beer Market in Vancouver proper. But on the UBC campus, there's not much competition until you go out to Kits, so this place is the best option if you want drinks in a restaurant atmosphere. They have a good draft beer selection (at average Vancouver prices) and fun margaritas and other cocktails or mocktails (kind of expensive).

I had the immense pleasure of visiting Brown's few weeks back - for one that its the campus where my son's shaping is happening and other as he works at Brown's . So honestly it was a pleasure visit with some incognito diligence :) . I work as a V.P of world's largest consulting firm so might as well add that i may be a bit wise too ! What I observes , felt , experienced at Brown's was absolutely mind blowing & refreshing to the core . It was exhilarating to see the demeanor and fun composure with which customers are served by chirping & very realistic smiling set of young men and women . The way a customer is made to feel so much warmth via the chatting , making 'em feel at home , an amazing array of dishes which just blow you off as they are so phenomenally done . I can only compliment the floor manager ( a very charming lady with an amazing smile ) and the management for the incredible training that they must have done at the start , and more for creating such a positive fun filled vibe at work on a daily basis . I have to say that my son is having a whale of a time and i am so proud of Brown's !

Nestled within the vibrant UBC community in Vancouver, Browns provided me with an unforgettable dining experience, expertly guided by the dynamic duo of Daria and Paige. From the moment I stepped foot into the restaurant, their warm and friendly demeanor set the stage for a culinary journey like no other. Allow me to recount the exceptional delights I experienced at Browns, where Daria and Paige's impeccable service truly shined.

The culinary offerings at Browns were nothing short of exceptional. With a menu that boasted a delightful array of flavors, Daria and Paige's expertise ensured that each dish was a testament to the restaurant's commitment to culinary excellence. One dish that truly stood out was the signature Browns Burger. Cooked to perfection, the juicy patty nestled between a soft bun, complemented by caramelized onions, melted cheese, and a tantalizing special sauce. Each bite was a symphony of flavors that left me craving more. Daria and Paige's attention to detail and dedication to quality ingredients truly elevated this culinary masterpiece.

The vegetarian options at Browns were equally impressive. Daria and Paige's expertise brought to life dishes such as the Sweet Potato Gnocchi, a celebration of flavors. The tender pillows of sweet potato gnocchi were perfectly paired with a rich tomato sauce, creating a harmonious balance of sweet and savory. Garnished with fresh herbs and Parmesan, each bite was a delightful explosion of taste that I would eagerly recommend to any pasta lover or vegetarian.

Daria and Paige's service was impeccable. Their warm smiles and attentive nature made me feel like a valued guest throughout the evening. They took the time to explain each dish in detail, showcasing their genuine passion and knowledge. Their expertise elevated the entire dining experience, creating an atmosphere of comfort and delight.

The ambiance at Browns perfectly complemented the culinary delights. Located within UBC, the restaurant exuded a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. The tasteful decor, combined with a cozy and inviting setting, provided the ideal backdrop for an enjoyable evening. Whether it was an intimate gathering or a casual night out, the restaurant's ambiance, coupled with the attentive service of Daria and Paige, ensured a memorable experience.

To complete the culinary journey, Browns offered an impressive selection of beverages. Daria and Paige's recommendations, based on their extensive knowledge of the drinks menu, added an extra layer of enjoyment. From handcrafted cocktails to a thoughtfully curated wine list, their suggestions perfectly complemented the flavors of the cuisine, enhancing the overall dining experience.

In conclusion, my visit to Browns at UBC, guided by the exceptional service of Daria and Paige, was an extraordinary culinary adventure. The delectable cuisine, impeccable service, and inviting ambiance made for an unforgettable dining experience. Whether you're a food enthusiast or simply looking for a remarkable meal on campus, Browns, with its talented duo of Daria and Paige, is a must-visit destination. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone in search of a gastronomic journey led by...

TLDR: worst service ever experienced, great atmosphere, food and drinks.

I really wanted to like this place.

The décor reminds me of a 80s diner barstools and chairs that have been revamped to a modern feeling pub. The covered patio and ambiance therein made this place feel as if you'd want to come here with colleagues to celebrate a promotion. Food and drinks were tastefully crafted with quality ingredients. Possibly the best tasting food on campus, with a large variety of beers on tap. Unfortunately, the service was so poor that my partner and I will not be coming back.

We entered on a Saturday early evening around 5PM and saw a group that came in 10 seconds before us greeted and promptly seated. Then the greeter disappeared and we were left there awkwardly watching multiple staff pass us by. Finally, we were asked if we had been helped, to which we replied that we hadn't and would like a table for two. This person told us to 'hang tight'. We expected that he would call the greeter over, but we were left to stand there even longer. Did all the staff think someone else was already helping us? After about 10 minutes of standing at the front, I interrupted a staff member (that would have walked right past me) to ask for a table for two.

Only then were we promptly seated ... and ignored! Another couple was soon seated in the table next to us. We saw another waitress pour two glasses of water and walk right past us to put them down and introduce herself at this next table. After another 15 minutes, I once again interrupted someone to ask for our server. During this time, we saw another large table presented with a free dessert and drinks (they were celebrating something). It felt like all the staff were focused on every customer except us.

At 5:30, our server finally came to our table and we ordered our food and drinks. The drinks quickly came out first, followed by our appetizer. When our pizza arrived, I asked for another beer and some water (we had not received any water during this visit). The request for the beer and water was ignored. During our dinner, multiple staff members passed by our table that clearly had an empty glasses, but did not ask if we wanted another drink. It was evident that we were not being attended to. My usual tip rate is 15~20%, but I left 5% and told her that I wanted to tip more, but could not do so because of the poor service. Instead of an apology, she gave a nervous laugh. We left with no plans on...

Honestly a good place on campus that I ,usually, enjoy but had a pretty bad experience just now. My friend and I came in during happy hour and we both ordered Nachos and I ordered a coke. The server, named Will I believe (Tattoos and bald), grabbed my coke right away (we sat next to the outside bar so it was one step away) and then put in the order. We received our order but from a girl and we ate our food. Right as my friend is close to finishing her plate Will comes over and asks us if we want the bill, we say sure and he hands us the bill. This is where the big issue comes into play, Will was extremely overbearing while we paid, looking at what my friend put down for a tip and what she was doing on the machine. After she paid, he slowly took out the receipt, and read it before putting it down. He then handed me the machine, did not put down a tip because I felt weird about that plus the fact we only saw him twice AND I didn’t want to AND nobody is entitled to a tip. Mind you I’m a local born and raised and I know labour laws (servers get paid minimum wage and restaurants can’t take BOH tips out of their money if it means they’ll make less than minimum wage - Why servers think people don’t know this is beyond me). Will then again takes the machine and waits for the receipt to come out. Mind you I also said I don’t need the receipt and it said APPROVED boldly on the machine. Once the receipt comes out he says “oh wow” and I asked if something went wrong and he replied “no you just didn’t tip” and then goes on to say “was there something wrong with the food” and I replied no. At this point I’m extremely uncomfortable because that is so insanely rude to say as well as I would never say that to someone if I was him. He then walks off mad and we leave. Honestly making that comment proves why that didn’t and doesn’t deserve a tip. If he had just asked if the food was alright I wouldn’t mind but the tone in which he said “oh wow, you didn’t tip” came off extremely aggressive. I see that many people have been having issues with this and would probably steer clear of the location until they can fix it up. Besides the tip issue I felt that he was really overbearing throughout the entire time, just looking. Not sure when or if I’ll...
