Tried this place a few nights ago, and was really delighted with my meal! Big portions, lots of flavour, all around nice experience. I went back tonight, and there is obviously a new staff member working.. but instead of being supervised/trained by the other team members who were there, he was left on his own to prepare my order. He SCRAPED out the bottom of the rice cooker, but instead of going to get more, he decided a pitiful amount of rice was appropriate and moved on to the next bit. He put teeny tiny amounts of everything else on top, closed up the box, and handed it to me. Honestly I could barely tell that there was anything inside, because it was so light. I'm just flabbergasted at the complete 180 from my previous experience here, and think that this new staff member is obviously not yet ready to be completing orders on his own. We all start somewhere, I get that, but where's the quality control?! If this was my 1st experience here, you better believe I would not be returning, especially at the price point ($18+). Thankfully I can cook some extra rice and doctor it all up a bit when I get home.. but doesn't that reallllllly miss the point of picking up some takeout? 🙃 Quite disappointed by this experience, and am not sure I'd come back...
Read moreWhat is going on with Jamjar UBC? what once was a treasure trove of delicious food and endless choices has ended up being a pay-as-you-go disaster. I was always so excited to order my half chicken, half cauliflower concoction, and then move down the assembly line and choose all my toppings and sauces. Now, it's a prescribed order (I had to order a full chicken and pay an extra $3.50 for some cauliflower!!!), With all the toppings pre-applied AND YET it still took them 20+ mins to give us our order. They also didn't seem short-staffed, so I really don't know how this A-plus restaurant suddenly provides such awful service.
Update: Also while we were there, the woman who took our order charged my friend not for the extra cauliflower topping, but charged her for an entire cauliflower bowl! I was only able to catch the mistake after my friend paid and they gave us the receipt, so I pointed it out and asked the woman to refund my friend, which she said she would, but now my friend is looking at her credit card statement it looks like they actually charged her AGAIN! What started as a $30 order is now costing my friend $60+ dollars. Jamjar, you really need to train your...
