I will try to be constructive: The salad was very bland, no flavours other than raw cucumber and tomato, the pita is supermarket pita, the rice had a decent flavour but was too soft and soggy, and the hummus was of a lower quality. I wanted to have more crisp and char on the lamb skewer, but it was the best part of the meal. I’m also critical because the platter is not exactly a budget meal, and so I have some expectations. There might be an issue in that the menu is quite large and includes pasta, chef special, French fries and so on. It would probably be more efficient and effective to focus first on nailing the core of the restaurant, which is shawarma, Mediterranean style potatoes, rice etc. The bar itself was empty when I got there, and as I sat and ate there wasn’t anybody around at several points. I can’t imagine why they’d put the rotating meat spits in the back and out of sight. Visually there’s not enough to catch your eye and say “this is a place with fresh food”. It looks a little like a customer service desk. It is confusing where one orders, what the salad station and hot platter stations are, and why they are labeled like self-serve areas when they are not? Even the line-up system was kind of confusing and people weren’t following it. The whole thing feels too ambitious! Students will eat almost anything so that’s on Kyros’ side. But it’s worse than eating Opa! which is pretty middle of the road food court Greek food. So I’m not sure I’ll be back for now.

Kyros Kitchen Mediterranean food at The Nest, UBC, outperforms all , over the counter restaurants in Vancouver with regards to portion size, taste and variety of dishes. Staff are attentive and genuinely friendly ready to please your requests. Join them tomorrow for free tastes of their new drink.menu- mango milkshake, chai to only mention a few. Great prices for your value too,, Something new : Mango shake made with imported Indian mangoes!!Naturally sweet!! Favourite- Chicken skewers so tender with savoury roast potatoes.

I had the chicken shawarma platter. I enjoyed the salad, chicken and rice. The chicken was well seasoned and the tzatziki was very good and fresh. The rice was delicious! The only thing is that there was only one potato although the menu mentions "potatoes", the pita was thick and not really good, not what I expected, the hummus also lacked flavour. Overall pretty good.

I was going to leave 5 stars because campus doesn’t have the best shawarma spots and this is relatively good so far, but I had a few suggestions I hope this place can implement to be improve:

The first time I ordered shawarma on fries, it was extremely good. Fresh and hot, plus tasted great. The second time, the chicken was unfortunately stale and not even warm, and the fries seemed like they’d been thrown in the fryer multiple times.

Both times, my food container was covered in grease and/or sauce that made my hands dirty on the go. Not the biggest deal, but I hope staff can be mindful about this as it changes the experience.

I hope they continue serving fresh and hot food rather than leftovers...
