Read moreI am an Alumni of this exclusive University. The experience at this University is unparallel. I was the Vice President of an esteemed organization at this University (it originally was founded in a Manhattan Law School for women only). I organized a significant portion of the scholastic activities for this organization for 4 years as Vice-president.
Acceptance to this esteemed university is impossible. You must have a GPA greater than 95%, demonstrate an interest in academic research, demonstrate participation in philanthropy and have legitimate connections to Vancouver.
Moreover, University fees here are exorbitant. There is no guarantee of obtaining a parking space at UBC, because everyone interested in parking on campus must enter a LOTTERY. If you are ever selected in this lottery, you have to pay over 2000.00 upfront, to simply park your car for 6 months on campus. Arguably, tuition fees, book fees, lab fees, organization fees, social fees and athletic fees are separate matters.
Despite the unconsiconable cost of this education, if you SUCCESSFULLY pass all your courses over 4 years, you will have achieved a laudable Degree that has international recognition (unlike degrees from universities no one has ever heard of).
Irrefutably, this degree and the organization I joined (that was comprised of only 5% of the university population) was the Best Investment of my Time in my...
Read moreI had a extremely good experience of day surgery to straighten my eye. My surgeon Dr. Ko was excellent. The anaesthetist was reassuring. The postop care was the best I ever had. It took some time for my oxygen levels to get up there. And the nursing staff were gentle offering me ice chips, water and ginger ale when I needed it. I kept falling asleep and at my doctors recommendation they let me sleep as long as I needed. The nurse in the post post op room before I left was very kind while I waited for my friend.
That evening, one of my sutures popped and my eye went to the other side. It was quite scary for me as I was all alone. I finally made it to Urgent Care just before it closed. Although, there was not an opthomologist on call, they did a lot of testing of my eye and he made me an appointment at the Vancouver General eye clinic where my surgeon met me and after waiting for 12 hours for an OR to open at Vancouver General.
I don’t like to compare but the difference was acute. The care I received at the U of BC was excellent. They even gave me a taxi voucher for my appointment at the VGH the next day as I am retired and on a fixed income. Phenomenal service all around at the...
