This is my second time trying their foods - once was pick up and once was ordered through skip the dishes.
With my pick up order, I got the dhaba style butter chicken. It was okay, just found it to be on the sweeter side and quite oily (even when mixed).
With my skip order, I got the grand Indian pakora basket which seems like it was stale as it was quite dry and tough to chew. The beef samosas were okay, pretty generous on the stuffing. The lamb biriyani was okay, I got medium as the spice level and that was probably a little too much for me but that's a learning experience for me. The Punjabi samosas were good as well. Lastly, the chole bhatura... it was quite dry. There wasn't any gravy or "consistency" to it. I loved getting chole bhatura when living in Toronto and I've never gotten it like this so I was a bit shocked when I got my order - but thankfully it was flavourful. For drinks I got the Indian dhaba chai and that was really well made.
One thing to note, when ordering through skip the dishes, I was given the option to add sauces (tamarind or mint) with almost all my dishes that I ordered and I made my choices accordingly, however they only gave me 1 mint and 1 tamarind. Even though I would think with the two types of samosas and the pakora, I'd get 3 sauces... I was missing at least 2. Which could be a discrepancy in how the skip the dishes options are set up... but it is still disappointing.
The experience so far has been a real hit or miss. I will continue to go back and try different things seeing as they have quite a bit on the menu and I'm hoping to have a home run with at least one of...
Read moreI will start at 5 stars I went to this restaurant with both of my parents, my mum was stressed and could not cook because of the pressure her workplace put her at. My dad agreed to go to a restaurant and mum chose spices. As we went we made a phone call stating that we would be coming and we ordered of the phone, so they would have extra time to prepare our food. Once we reached there we found out that they didn't trust us so they didn't prepare our order.
-2 star s After we had placed our order they gave us our napkins a jug of water and left. we waited for what was supposed to be a 10 minute wait but actually was a 45 minute wait.
3 star Then they gave us our chaat papyri. which was filled with more fried crackers then tomatoes and chickpeas and spices.
-1 star when our main courses arrived it was nothing lke we ordered we had ordered tandoori chicken wrap with spicy lamb biryani. What we recived was takli chicken with mild lamb biryani.
4 points
Once we called the front desk boy he said that we had ordered all of this stuff and started arguing. -5 point overall the chiken talki was mid while the biryani was inedible the chaat papri barely made up for this hideous visit.
we will never go back here ever again since they changed owners and the new owner is very bratty. star The waitress apologzed so +1 star
overall 0/15 for the rating...
Read moreI had placed an online order for dinner one night, we showed up at the suggest time to pick up food and found out that our food was given to somebody else!
Instead trying to apologize or help with our situation. The server ignored my husband while he stood there trying to sort out our dinner situation and the server moved on to taking another online order. The server told my husband "I'm doing something important" while he punch in his new order in the system. he offer to remake the food which takes another 30 mins but at that point of the experience, we no longer have the patience to wait because I had a hungry toodler with us who needed to go home to eat.
I will not be going back there again with the horrible service. Even though in previous takeout experiences I've had missing items a few times and it never prompted a bad review, but this time I have to share my experience so others beware of what can happen to them if they order...
