Tavern On Main — Restaurant in Fort McMurray

I absolutely love this place! I moved out of Fort McMurray several years ago and have not been back, but I recently found myself working in the area again. Renee was the server working and even though I haven't seen her in many years I was immediately received with a very warm welcome! The staff are just 1 part of what makes this place a great experience and Renee in particular is stellar at what she does and full of youthful exuberance! What a friendly girl!

I came here to write a review on the food. Their bacon cheeseburger is one of the best and I crave it. I wish other restaurants made burgers as good as this. And I travel all over Western Canada for work. I put their burger as my #1 Fave! It's made in house, it's big, cooked well and not soggy / dripping wet when served. The large slices of bacon really make this item shine!

The beer selection here is great as well. All in all, I feel like the owner of this establishment really gets what a great pub should be. Great atmosphere, great staff, great food and great drinks!

The tavern is a nice, quite dive bar in downtown Fort Mac. With a nice selection of beer on tap and a simple menu, it's an easy pick if your in the area. That being said, now adays allot of the action is up in the residential loop, so if you plan on bar hopping, it's a bit out of the way. They use to be one of the only bars with live music, however other bars are staying competitive. The staff Is friendly, but can be overwhelmed during busy rushes. One of the few, if not only bars with live horse betting and machines to boot. Probably some of the best wings in terms of quantity and cooking methods in town, and fairly priced. Their flavors selection is ok, offering the staples, and not much else. The hottest wing they offer is a nice heat, but far from a "burn your face off" title.
