The Fish Place — Restaurant in Fort McMurray

First time eating there in quite awhile. I was never impressed with anything from what I remember and that didn't change this time around either. The place looks outdated as it gets. This time we ordered, Calamari starter, I had fish and chips and the wife and son and the chicken finger dinner between them. The squid rings came out fairly quickly which was nice but they were very greasy and way too salty and I enjoy salt. Wife tries one and woudnt eat anymore.. The fish was ok. Not great but not bad. I could make better at home tho. The chicken fingers were horirbe and between the wife and I we came to the conclusion that they and to be old refried chicken fingers. And if it was it was just plain bad. The chicken didn't tear apart like normal chicken would. Literally had to rip it apart. The batter was hard and thick and tasted burnt. Was definitely not fresh in any sense. The French fries was actually pretty good. Left there and before we even got to the truck we both agreed that we would never go back there. With tip I spent around $90. Honestly, it wasn't worth 20 bucks tips included. I was wishing for much better as this was one of our first outings in a long time and was very disappointed. Honestly the food here was horrible and we paid 125$ for it (2 people), Very overpriced for something that’s frozen I had the fish and fries with gravy, the gravy was chunky and just warm it wasn’t even hot food, I somehow got charged for extra cheese for getting shredded no idea why, and the batter on the fish was just horrible (strange taste) there was no taste at all to the fish itself, the wings were good but 16$ for 8 insane, the crab was watered down barely any meat and very sicken couldn’t even finish it and it had black spots all over it which from my experience with crab they shouldn’t have the black spots, the potato was honestly the best thing they have that i’ve tried there, Very overrated for reviews when I read the reviews I was honestly shocked because i didn’t have that same experience for the first time trying this extremely disappointing.

Tonight our son begged for fish and chips for supper. I think we were all craving "home" We ordered the family pack ( cod 6 pack) and my husband came and picked it up. We have yet to have fish and chips in Fort Mcmurray since we moved here 8 years ago because we were afraid that it would disappoint and not be like home. So needless to say that our expectations were high. Once we opened the box and had our first taste we were blown away. It was delicious and all we could do is rave about how fantastic it was with every bite. Now I'm mad at myself for not trying the fish place alot...
