The worst dining experience we’ve experienced at a Montana’s - Fort Saskatchewan location. Party of 4, 2 adults, 2 pre-teens. Requested a booth as it was pretty quiet in the main dining room early Thursday night, and we could see multiple booths available, were told we could be seated around the corner under the stairwell. When asked if the booths on the other side in the main dining room were reserved, we received no response from the hostess. We were seated under the stairs in the corner, only 3 tables in this area. Once seated my husband who is tall and slim commented on how tight the table was to the seat and asked if we could push back the bench or sit elsewhere, we were told it’s bolted to the floor & wall and she walked away…ok… Our server came to our table, we ordered our drinks, server returned within a few mins with them and we placed our order, during this time there was a group upstairs with youngsters/teens running up and down the stairs which was quite disruptive, nothing was done by staff to stop this, and they had little regard for other diners in the restaurant. Once the group left, what could only be described as a hurd of elephants erupted above us. We asked what the noise was and was told the staff was just putting the tables back in place from the group, and thought it would be over quickly. Caesar salad we ordered to share arrived, the salad was barely dressed and looked like it had seen better days, with rusted chunks of romaine, like it had been prepared earlier and refrigerated uncovered. Shortly after another server came with my husbands dinner, and we assumed the rest of our meals would follow as expected. Unfortunately not the case, over the course of 10-15 min the remaining meals arrived, one-by-one… My oldest daughter ordered the chicken fajitas, her tortillas & toppings came 15 mins apart from the sizzling chicken & vegetable plate. My youngest daughter and I ordered the same steak dinner and they arrived 10 mins apart from each other. Both steak dinners requested medium, mine was tough and over cooked, my daughters fries looked “old” and wrinkled - by that point we were frustrated and hungry. All the while if you can believe the disruption of tables and chairs being dragged and what seemed to be thrown around continued, frustrated my husband asked the server again, “What is going on?” The server just giggled and repeated what she said previously when asked what the noise was about. We honestly should have walked out and just left well before this point, I don’t know if it was just the frustration, disbelief and even almost embarrassment by the whole experience, but we sadly stayed. For a dinner coming in over $160, it was the absolute worst dinning experience our family...
Read moreTonight was a total disaster! So, we sit down and the waitress takes our order as expected. My parents and a friend were with us. 7 in total. Mom and dad ordered first. We asked for more time to look at the menu. When she returned, my parents decided to add a starter to their meal. She then told us that their order was already placed with the kitchen. So now my parents get their meal, way before us. Their baked potato was cold. That was swapped out. Strike one for the kitchen Then our meal finally came out. Mine was good. The kids were ok too. My wife's steak was undercooked. Strike two. Sent back. Our friend was with us. She ordered a rice/steak dish. The steak was good but the rice dish was COLD. Sent back to the kitchen. Strike three. She waited for half an hour before it came back... COLD again! Strike four! At this point, my wife was STILL waiting for her steak to be cooked a little more...... strike five! So the manager came out and told my wife he was sorry and she wouldn't be charged for her meal. We then asked about all the other problems we had. He told us we wouldn't be charged for the meals that were messed up. He walked away and the waitress came back and apologized. We then asked if my wife's steak was coming soon... ( by this time we are all done eating. My wife only ate fries). The waitress told us that her steak was canceled and they didn't even tell us! What? Now I have to take my wife out for dinner somewhere else! This is crazy!! It was absolutely insane. Its hard for me to write this logical for people to understand. One and only good note. Other than the minor slip up with placing the orders at different times, the waitress was fantastic! We tipped her well. For 3 orders, she got near $30. We thanked her for her service. My advice, order the stuff that can't be precooked. Steak, fries, burger, ribs (slow cooked)..... this was my third time there. First two were just ok. I give one star because of their lack of care and ability. I get the feeling that the manager and kitchen staff are friends of the owner as opposed to all qualified personnel. That's the cheapest way to run a business. That's how this...
Read moreNeechi Food Critict After a long morning of doing business the sun rose half way over the sky, indicating we should get some good food before we continue on our journey. So we found Montana's (right close to the gas station...lol save a little fuel) Our experience was that when we walked in we were let to seat ourselves, which is OK. But waited a while before we were even brought a menue or asked what we wanted to drink. Finally when we did place our order we waited an hour ish waiting for our plates. And it was t even busy finally after being on a time schedule we waiting again for the check and also wanted to take out most of the left overs we couldn't eat, as it took an extensive amount of time to even get the food, we figured as we stood there with our coats on we would get at least an invitation to the possibility of a take out container. Needless to say, the quality of food was as equivalent to their customer service . $19.99 for a thin piece of 4 bone rib with a dish cloth piece of grilled chicken breast that makes me feel so inadequate to Pamala Lee, when it comes to breasts and a plate of ribs that makes me feel like I should have just went to Koukums for neckbones. I would have at least felt satisfied. Last but not least, you know the saying "you can put lip stick on a pig, but it's still a pig"? Well you can put all the delicious sauce on a piece of meat, but if it's muggy on the mouth watering meat, well damn you should put in your menu... Suculant Sauce coated Rib Bones.lol I love love the sauce and that was the only highlight...
