July 18/24: Went for dinner, and I was worried because, due to this heat, I didn't have a sweater with me to bring in. I'm usually chilly otherwise. Well for the first time, it wasn't chilly inside (dining side) it was actually pretty warm, but meh, was still way warmer out than in I guess. Our waitress/server (insert politically correct term here) was lovely and pleasant however her fragrance/perfume was overwhelming for us (I'm scent sensitive but even my bf found it strong). We've had this server before and it was the same issue then. As nice as she is/was, we didn't look forward to her being near. No shade to Shay, I honestly can taste strong fragrance & it invokes a headache. My other half ordered the beef dip, salad instead of fries. I went with fish & chips and figured I'd try the gravy. Our orders arrive and I kid you not, the beef dip wasn't even 6". When Shay asked if we needed anything else I half jokingly asked where the other half of his beef dip was. We all laughed, we totally understand that the server doesn't create the dish portions. My fish & chips were good, the gravy however was quite thin and lacking a little in flavor. To be fair, it was the busiest we've seen it since we've been frequenting the restaurant, maybe the cook was having an off evening. Of course the timing could apply as we're usually not there during the "dinner rush". Anyway, the food was still good overall, and our server was attentive, kind & polite. As we were leaving, we happened to notice another table where a patron had apparently also ordered the beef dip. As he was paying the bill, my other half told Shay "I think I see the other half of my beef dip" as he gestured to the other table with a grin. Once again, we all laughed. Oh, and Shay handled our gentle constructive criticism with a smile & absolute grace. Honestly, no place is perfect, there's always off days and we will visit again in the not too distant future I'm sure. May 9/24: This place has become a go-to when looking to get out for dinner as we quite enjoy it. We now look at the menu to decide whether to try something new or go with what's become a favorite (like the hot seafood dunk). All my first impressions still apply. One of our earlier visits we did encounter a waitress wearing strong perfume but thankfully that hasn't recurred. Have to admit, this was my first time to any Mr Mikes, and I was impressed. Clean, decent layout, bathrooms also clean. Friendly staff that from my brief-ish time there I'd say they showed genuine care for their customers (more to that story but that's the short of it). We both had an appetizer and a meal. The food was fantastic and the bill at the end wasn't a shock. Menu prices weren't outlandish and the food was worth it. Definitely recommend! Oh, and shout out to our waitress (sadly I missed catching her name), we're kinda quirky, she was easy going and lovely in her...

Decided to try this new Mr. Mike's location in Fort Saskatchewan instead of going in to Sherwood Park for steak at the Keg; well that was a mistake!
Our waitress was not attentive at all and spent a lot of time huddled at the bar socializing with the other staff. After a long wait, the waitress finally made her way to our table, but when my Mom wasn't quite sure entre she wanted to order, instead of waiting or even offering a suggestion she just said "I'll just come back later" and walked away. She did not come back for 10 minutes.
Our food was delivered by other staff and our server stopped at our table to ask how our food was and I said it looks good but would let her know once we tasted it. Unfortunately we didn't see her again for about 10 minutes.
Purchased 3 steak dinners and mac & cheese. My New York Strip was ok, but the the thickness was uneven so only the thickest part was cooked how I ordered (medium). My mother and aunt had Top Sirloin and both of the steakes were cut properly, cooked as requested, but they were tough and chewy so very difficult to eat. We did let the server know that our steaks were not to our liking (inconsistently cooked and tough like meat flavored gum). The Manager came over and offered to cook us new steaks, but since we had already been there for a long time so Mom declined because she didn't want to wait.
To make up for the terrible steaks the Manager offered us free dessert and when the server came back we ordered our dessert. It typically only takes a few minutes for dessert to be served but not here, we waited 10 minutes before the Manager came over and offered to take our order for dessert. We mentioned that we already ordered 10 minutes ago and he said, that we should have them and went to see what the delay was. The whole time we were waiting our server was socializing at the bar. Within 1 minute the manager and other servers were back with dessert.
I must say that the desserts were absolutely wonderful! Substantial serving and very well presented.
As a steak house this place needs to work on setting a higher food quality and service standard. Steaks need to be cut to an even thickness so that cook consistently (maybe source better quality beef) and servers need to be more attentive to customers instead of their coworkers and phones.
If you do decide you want steak, within the price range you are better off going to the Keg. If you want excellent dessert, as long as you are okay waiting way too long for service Mr. Mike's is second to none.
Hopefully this place can do better or it will be yet another failed restaurant at...
Read moreLet’s start at the beginning, we show up on time for our reservation and we told we would be seated in the bar, when I booked the table it specifically asked if you want high tops or dining. I booked dining and didn’t want to be seated in the bar, the hostess understood and found us a table in the dining room, it wasn’t busy and there were many open table tables. Our waitress was just okay, after taking our order she proceeded to walk around the dining room clearing tables and talking to other customers and not putting in our order. She didn’t have a portable POS like the other waitresses, she had a pen and paper to take our order so we know our order wouldn’t make it to the kitchen until she physically went and put our order in. While waiting for our appetizers I saw the manger walking around and I asked him if it was normal to be seated in the bar when making a reservation for the dining room, his response was “it’s a busy night, and when it turned 6 o’clock, all of our tables got shuffled maybe you didn’t book a dining room spot” and I know I absolutely did. He wasn’t apologetic. He wasn’t helpful. He didn’t answer my questions and really just brushed me off. We had the bruschetta to start, which was delicious and I thought we were off to a good start, however, when our entrées came, they were pretty lackluster. They dropped off our meals on the table. I got a medium steak. My husband got a medium rare, and we started to taste the ice cream scoop size serving of mashed potatoes. Mine were super salty. My husbands were bland And he starts to cut his steak and I noticed that it is not medium rare so I cut mine, and I had the medium rare so because we had already started eating some of the sides, we decided just to plop the steaks on each other’s plates. The steak was about the size of a deck of cards , We had ordered the New York strip.. There was about six carrots and two brussels sprouts cut in half and the steak was under seasoned. At no point did our waitress ever come back to ask us how our meal was or refill our waters or drinks I even had to flag another waitress down for some salt and pepper because other tables had salt and pepper and none was dropped off at our table. I was really excited to try this restaurant as I heard it got good reviews, I wish I could say that was our experience, but it wasn’t and we left pretty disappointed. Will we ever come back ? No. Would we recommend this to a friend or anyone we know? Absolutely not save yourself The trouble go to Sherwood Park. Go to the keg. Head into the city and go to Colosseum steak and pizza. Any place is better...
