L'Oncle Ho Restaurant — Restaurant in Gatineau

Stale food, dried left overs in the food bins, chicken balls were way too battered, there was no won tons in the soup so it was only filled with broth. There was no dessert other than fortune cookies and tasteless "almond cookies". The decor was dated and the handicap washroom there was a Industrial mop bucket in front of the toilet and the vacuum sitting in front of the sink blocking access. They decided to remove the hot water tap so that we could not turn on the hot water to wash our hands, the toilet paper dispenser was broken and there was no dispenser for paper towel so both the toilet paper and the paper towel were sitting on top of the toilet lid. We last attended this restaurant 22 years ago we thought we would give it another try apparently it's still a disappointing restaurant to attend. On a positive note there's a lot of parking if you steal it from the restaurant next door which the food next door is actually better and cheaper...

Food is good, service is good, but the dinning rooms is awful. The bar/counter looks straight out of the 80's. Right at the entrance there is a pillar with the moldings half fallen off and nails exposed. A child could easy reach and pull one of these nails out. On that pillar is a couple of cheap printed out sheet of paper with buffet hours and prices. How much would it really cost to have a nice little sign or laminated sheet put up there instead? The carpet is old, the chairs and table are ok but could use a little re-freshening. Light fixtures could be upgraded and a little coat of paint would do wonders for the look and ambiance (the place is dark and glum).

All these improvements could be done for under 12-15K. Having the restaurant in that state shows that the owners just don't care.

The lady at the front was very nice and welcoming, so i feel bad that I have to give this place 1star, but the truth is ,the food tasted very very bad , almost everitingh tasted like left over from days prior. I was so dissapointed at the presentation, taste ,and lack of choices. For the first time in my life i went out for dinner, and left the restaurant in about 40 min.
