They are racists...
My boyfriend and I showed up with a reservation. They told us that it would be a couple of minutes before we could get seated. We didn't think anything of it so we waited at the entrance together... We then waited about 20 minutes, meanwhile, about THREE couples (pairs of two) had walked in (one pair had a reservation at the SAME time as us), and they were escorted RIGHT AWAY . As for the others, they had NO reservations and were also immediately seated, as soon as they walked in the door.
The staff kept pretending to act friendly in telling us that the only spot left in the restaurant was a table in a corner, (probably the worst seats in the entire restaurant), and that if we wanted better seats, we would have to wait even longer. We took the seats since we were really starting to get hungry.
The food was decent, I had ordered a salad with no cheese, and they brought it with out with the cheese, and they told me that they would make a new one. Unfortunately, I had to wait another 10- 15 minutes until my salad was brought, come to find out, the second time around, there were still chunks of cheese mixed in there. I am vegan and so that again was very disappointing for me. The vinaigrette contained milk as well, which I wasn't aware of. (my fault since I hadn't specified), though I would assume someone would mention that since I had made a big deal with the cheese... On the other hand, my boyfriend had ordered fries and gravy, which tasted moldy, as if the pan in which they had made the sauce was old and dirty, or as if the sauce was so old that it had a moldy flavour you couldn't ignore to it.
Throughout our meal, about three or four different workers passed by multiple times without saying anything just to look, making us feel as if we were doing something wrong. Not to mention, throughout the evening, some of the customers around us were staring... After the meal (while were were still eating) ,we were given the bill and were not offered any dessert until after we mentioned it. It was quite obvious that we were not welcome to stay any longer.
Crazy to think that we are almost in 2018, in Canada, and these people are treating others badly because of their skin complexion. It is sickening and we will not be going back there to support this unjust, distasteful behaviour. Shame on Quebec. Some things need to change.
We will most definitely not going back and I don't suggest anyone to go there as well..
Sadly for them, they are losing what could have been loyal customers since we both worked in association with the company (in Ottawa) for a couple of years. We receive all the coupons and know all the staff out there and all.
This is disgraceful and not okay. Good luck to anyone that is different in going there. My thoughts...
Read moreMy wife and I ordered 2 beer each and 1 Nacho Grand Chelem during our visit.
Nachos arrived cold. Informed server. They took order back and came back with new plate of nachos within 5 minutes.
2nd plate was warm at best. Not hot.. The nachos are supposed to have bacon. No bacon to be seen. Very little cheese, very little chicken. NO BACON…
I had the impression that the cook tried to make the fritto lays(yes fritto lays) to look like bacon by putting lots of sauce on them. I thought at 1st that it was bacon.
Was the worse nachos I’ve ever had. All I could taste was the smoky bbq sauce.
Informed sever of our disappointment, however nothing was done.
Took 15minutes to get the bill after informing waitress that I wanted the bill:
Overall VERY disappointed.
4 draught beers, 1 nachos, + tip = 90$
Overpriced and skimping on ingredients is not a good combination.
Tried to submit feedback on La Cage website. Entered all necessary information and tried to submit it. The submit button did not work. Grrr
I guess it’s there way of dealing with negative feedback. By just not allowing you to submit it.
So here I am now doing a Google review,
Play it safe order drinks, stay away...
Read moreMy husband and I just finished dinner here and we will not be back. My husband is a native french speaker and I am english so he did most of the communicating. While we were there, we witnessed an English speaking couple being forced by the manager (unclear his position) to not only verbally confirm that they are Quebec residents, not only produce their LEASE in Gatineau, but go so far as to produce a Hydro-Quebec utility bill. After the male graciously produced these items, the employee proceeded to deny them both entry, based on the fact that the females name was not on the Hydro-Quebec bill. I am a world traveller, and I am disgusted by this prejudicial display in my own home country, especially in a city such as Gatineau which is essentially a city that profits tremendously from it's traffic from english speaking tourists. The food was sub-par which i would have not gone out of my way to complain about but i was truly disgusted by what I saw tonight. We are restaurant enthusiasts, and after that display I will not be returning and I will be sharing our experience within our social...
