They have no idea how to run a reservation system.
You click to make a reservation and it asks you how many people will be going so you pick 2. You select a time and bam you are e-mailed a "confirmation" for your reservation. Then the next day you get an e-mail saying your reservation has been cancelled with no explanation other than you should call.
So you call and they tell you reservations are only for a party of 6 or more which makes you wonder why they not only allowed you to make a reservation for 2 people but also why they confirmed it...
So weeks pass and your girlfriend who likes trendy things wants to go again but you don't want to wait in line to eat at the Quebecois rip off of the Works for 40-120 minutes, so you invite two other couples and make a reservation for 6. You ask for 7PM and get a menu of selections around then because 7 isn't available but 645pm is so you select that and of course get a confirmation of your reservation.
But of course as you should have expected you get an unexplained cancellation message which you only see the day of and call to find out that they are totally booked up for the entire night by people other than you.
So why did they allow me to select 645 and not 7 if both were booked up? Why did they "confirm" my reservation? I think it's because they take reservations over the phone or in person and don't enter them into the opentable system that they use until the end of the night when they bump people who have already been confirmed online. Or perhaps they have mis-configured their system (well clearly they have as it doesn't force you to select 6 persons or more but perhaps they have mis-configured it in many many ways...) but one thing is for sure they have no idea what they are doing when it comes to reservations and there is probably a reason why about half of the reviews here say the management are idiots.
If you're in Gatineau just go to the Works in Ottawa which has been doing the fancy burger thing for a much longer time and with far better reviews (they don't do reservations at all but the wait times aren't as ludicrous especially if you go on a week day,) I know I'm not going to try...
Read moreOn the Ontario and Quebec side, I have worked in fine dining restaurants for over five years and was the manager for one of them. The Ontario side is much more severe with the drinking rules the Quebec. This was clear last night. My wife and I had gone to this restaurant for a late supper at around 7 pm. The service was decent, and the food was all right. I have nothing bad or good to say about food or service. The point of this review is to inform everyone. Upon arrival, we were greeted by six guys, more than drunk, harassing a hostess. Some of the guys were touching her back and shoulders inviting her over to another restaurant because she was pretty, and they were very insistent. To get them to stop the hostess sat them down at a table. This was the first mistake. They should have been turned away. Unfortunately, the team that was there didn't seem aware of what was going on and thus could not help. Once the guys were at their booth, they started to harass two girls sitting in the booth behind them, to invite them to sit with them. When we mentioned to the server and manager that they should watch those guys for the girl's sake and stop serving them alcohol the response was that they are trying to get them out. This would have been good if it were true. We then saw the server keep serving them shots. After explaining that they will be held liable for any and all actions they take while intoxicated since they now over-served customers. They finally took more serious action. We also mentioned that the girls looked underage, which was later confirmed that they were. So please watch out when going here. service is good and the food as well, but watch out for guys trying to harass young girls, watch out for underage drinking, and for over...
Read moreI came to this restaurant with my daughter after a day of shopping. I ordered the Salmon Poké bowl. I had ordered it before and it was delicious. This time was another story .. After first glace I thought the salmon was chicken because it was so overly marinated in some dark brown sauce. I tasted it and it tasted like smoked salmon and that’s really not my cup of tea. I felt bad but had to tell the waitress that I was not going to eat it as it did not taste good and if she could bring me the mini burgers instead. She told me I am not the first customer to say that and that the restaurant recently changed their sauce and that she would come back with the burgers. She took my plate back and the manager came back to my table and argued with me that his salmon was fresh and gave me back my plate. I told him I did not say it was not fresh I said it tasted like smoked salmon and I don’t like smoked salmon. I did not want to make a fuss about it and told him I would pay for the plate and leave it there. He insisted to make me another one. I never got those burgers by the way. That said, the 2nd Poké bowl tasted exactly the same as the 1st one. I packed it up to go and paid for it. I have never in my life dealt with a manager at a restaurant who argues about an order with a customer especially knowing that the sauce had changed and there were other customers returning the same as plate for the same reason. I will not be returning there again and neither will anyone in my family. They lost...
