Paradis De Chine — Restaurant in Gatineau

This is my first review of a restaurant ever because I know that bad nights happen and it doesn’t always reflect the restaurant. I am however super disappointed with the service (or lack thereof) I received tonight. I called at 5:15 pm to place an order. I was told that the delivery would be between an hour and an hour and a half. I explained that it wouldn’t be a problem since I’d like the delivery to be between 7-7:30pm. I placed my order and gave my address and was told I’d get the delivery at the time I asked.

At 6:30pm they called me and told me for them to deliver to my address I had to have a minimum 50$ order. I asked why since this isn’t the first time I order and my order is always approximately the same price (one main plate + soup, so about 20$ + tax).

The explanation was that, only tonight, since they were short on delivery staff, the minimum order would have to be 50$. I asked the person if they thought it was reasonable for them to request this especially considering that I am a returning customer and that they were calling me over an hour after I’d ordered.

They didn’t answer my question and simply repeated very unapologetically that my order needed to be 50$.

I said that unfortunately they’d just lost a customer and the person HUNG UP on me!! It’s too bad because had they told me when I ordered that they were short on staff or been more apologetic or given a reasonable explanation I would have simply ordered from somewhere else and would never bother to...

Kelly answers phone and is always bubbly and patient & helpful.Kelly deserves recognition as the 1st point of contact I value her customer service skills which I feel is outstanding and plays a huge role in repeat orders along with great food.The Wong Ton soup is so flavorful and fresh tasting & full of Wong tons.The egg rolls are superb; crispy on the outside and packed full of flavour on the inside. A big thank you to the chef as I ask kindly to have my chicken wings well done but not burnt and they were real crunchy on the outside and tender juicy chicken seasoned delicious sweet in the inside. My favourite is the shrimps in lobster sauce which always taste so freshly made filled with lots of big juicy delicious tasting shrimp. I also highly recommend the battered shrimp also very big juicy flavorful and I get a side order of brown gravy packed with tasty flavour. Their chicken fried rice has the right ratio to chicken and scallions so seasoned to perfection,fresh fluffy & tasty. I highly recommend this restaurant as I have ordered numerous times and every time they deliver fresh and delicious food. The price is right and the portions are very big. I have been ordering from Paradis de la Chine for years, but today I did the same order which I’ve been doing and it always included a free fried rice & four fortune cookies. When my order arrived I was missing my free fried rice and my four fortunes cookies. I called the restaurant to notify them and they were trying to say I didn’t order enough food to get the free fried rice when I always receive it… in my previous orders. My total was $62.90. If my order is over $62.00 I receive a free fried rice. All I wanted was the remaining of my missing food in my order the rice and the cookies but they wanted me to pay delivery again and pay for the fortune cookies and the free rice.
