I'll start with the good - it's beautiful. Great location by the water, love the size of the patio. Gave this place two chances on two different weekends - while out biking. First time ordered Greek salad (which ended up being romaine or a dark leaf lettuce) but no feta, no olives. Basically just lettuce (dressing was really great) and cucumbers. This time we ordered Greek salad again (only because there was no mango salad left) and explained the issues with the previous weekend. No problem we were told - will be perfect this time. Salad came - iceberg lettuce, and some cucumber slices, feta, missing most of the ingredients listed. The 2 x poutine which we ordered (which I was told the specialty) came literally floating in gravy. I love gravy. I love it. But this was literally like a soup with french fries and poutine and bacon in it. Last part that has bothered me about both visits has been the extraordinary amount of wasps floating around the patio. I'm a camper, love the outdoors. But at any one time there was six or seven of these lovely wasps just at out table. Mentioned all of the above as feedback to the waitstaff - didn't seem to bother them at all. Probably won't be back. Will find another beautiful stop when out biking. I review a lot (please see my other reviews). I generally don't leave a negative review and usually just leave nice four or five star reviews. This experience deserves a two. If the management wants to pick things up - this could be an excellent place by the water. Needs some strong oversight and management to get better. Would...
Read moreActually, one star is too kind. After standing around for 5 minutes, we took matters into our own hands and sat down at a table with few other patrons in the restaurant. The table was then wiped (food bits everywhere- seats, table, floor) and then we proceeded to wait. After 5 minutes a grand pa and his son seated at the table behind us said “ that’s enough” and left without being served. We were more steadfast. Finally, after another 5 minutes I stood up (I am 197 cm) and motioned to one of the servers to come and take our orders. That they did after another couple of minutes. My wife ordered the mango salad and I fish & chips, both at exorbitant prices. Our drinks were served relatively expeditiously but the fish & chips took another 20. Notice I did not yet mention the mango salad. I waited and we nibbled on the fish & chips for another 20 minutes with no mango salad. Finally when our server was helping to serve some beer to another patron, I monitored and asked when my wife’s order could be expected. Alas, was his reply, it was no longer available. They thought that by not bringing this issue to our attention that we would somehow forget the order? The lame response? “It’s not my fault”. So the first time in my entire life (I turn 67 tomorrow) I left the premises without leaving a tip. Deplorable. Horrible. Avoid...
Read moreSo glad that I have the owner’s personal email so that I could write directly and express personally how incredibly disappointed I was with the experience in this restaurant. The peeling and mismatched tables, even if they are clean, make it look incredibly cheap and dirty We ordered a poutine (arrived cold), plate of nachos (soggy and wet with watered down salsa in the middle and burnt around the edges) A plate of 12 mild wings (dry, tiny, no meat, some mysterious inedible sauce on the side-we guessed ranch mixed with hot sauce) For absolutely basic pub food this order with 4 pop cost $86 which you can get much better quality for less than half the price anywhere in town. We went to pay and were informed at that time that the payment machine wasn’t operating and to pay in cash or e-transfer and given a personal email. I asked who we were sending money to and trusted their word that we were sending it directly to the owner rather than the business. Only one of the toilets in the ladies bathroom was usable because the other one was locked due to being covered in feces.
The only redeeming part of our experience was the view and Xavier, who served us, who was very polite but obviously new.
Word of mouth is your greatest and cheapest marketing tool if a positive experience and detrimental if a...
