Uptown Eatery — Restaurant in Gibsons

So, if you're from the Sunshine Coast you'll know that there are limited authentic Chinese restaurants here. Sure, there are western- chinese options however I bet none of them serve congee or house made northern chinese "seu gow" which is a handmade dumpling in soup. At the Uptown Eatery, my partner and I decided to give the lunch a try. I'm originally from Toronto and am Chinese born Canadian. I know dimsum just as well as the previous reviewer (seasontraveler) however I decided to give Uptown Eatery a 5 star for their friendly service, atmosphere and selection of authentic Chinese cuisine dishes.

Dim Sum: We ordered shui mai, har kau, chicken feet, wonton soup, chiu chow dumpling, xaio long bao and 1/2 of the roast duck.

We were pleasantly surprised to have had all these choices on the coast. Gabriel (chef) has perfected the chilli oil, a must requested condiment! He came to visit our table and chatted with us. June our server was so accommodating and attentive.

We've been recommended to try the Char Sui Bao (Roast Pork Bun) and the Poached pork dumplings the next time we come in for Dim Sum.

The biggest surprise is that they have HOT POT! For $35/person you can have the best social dinner with friends. You just have to call and give notice (June says to call in and give a 4 days notice). This would be the best thing for dinner party, I highly recommend you try hot pot if you haven't had it.

Service: Thumbs up to June for being so sweet and attentive Taste: I am soooo stoked to have authentic chinese food on the coast. It's delicious. Atmosphere: I enjoy their chinese new year decor. Price: Reasonable. For two we were FULL and ordered Duck for take home $70+ tips.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Uptown Eatery in Gibsons, BC, and it was an outstanding experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm, friendly service that made us feel right at home. The highlight of our meal was definitely the delicious spring rolls – they were crispy on the outside, perfectly seasoned, and bursting with fresh ingredients.

First time at this restaurant and recommend right away., . this place is a nice change compared to some other places we have been on the Coast over the years. We ordered for take-out, the Chicken Chow Mien, Sweet & Sour Tofu and Hot and Sour Soup. The food was quite tasty and of good quality. We like that they don't use MSG. The portions were a fair size. Looking forward to trying some other dishes from Uptown Eatery, perhaps for dine in next time. The place appears clean with a nice warm atmosphere. I was greeted with friendliness when I went in to order and then for pick up. The food was ready in a timely manner and was still hot when at home. This place is worth checking...
