Paddy O'Neils Restaurant Pub — Restaurant in Goderich

We had a less than stellar experience this past Saturday. We walked in at about 7pm (we had performed at Courthouse Square until 6:30) and decided to stay indoors as the AC was nice and cool, and Brian Gardiner was playing and sounded great. We were optimistic that we would have some good food and relax a little before returning to the festival in progress to see other acts. We asked a server if we could sit in the booths by the front door, and we're given the okay, so we sat there and listened to Brian. We waited to be served for about 29 minutes before I went to the bar and asked if we sat somewhere that there was no server. I was assured that we would be served. Another 15 minutes passed, and a server finally arrived, so we decided that we would take food to go and placed an order. Another server (server 2) came over 5 minutes later to ask if we had put in a drink order, and we informed him we were waiting for take out. Approximately 10 minutes later, just before 8pm, my companions decided to return to Courthouse Square so as not to miss the next act and I stayed behind to wait for our orders. Server 2 came back to me at this point and said that he did not see an order on the system for us, so I told him to forget about it and walked out. He came out and across the road to find me a minute or 2 later to say that he made a mistake, that he sees our takeout order, so I went back in to collect it. He gave me my order and apologized for all of the mix up, at which point I returned to Courthouse Square and sat down at a table with my companions and another couple that we just met. When I opened our meals, my order was wrong as there were no curly fries, so that was disappointing. But hen, I was made to feel like I was fortunate to have regular fries when my ladybioened her meal and saw the pathetic serving of curly fries she was given. I have attached a photo. We decided not to return to have the situation fixed as we had zero confidence that it wouldn't be messed up further, and quite frankly, we were ravenous after waiting so long. Went on July 13 2024 Is anyone running this place? For a Saturday in the summer at peak season it was not even very busy. We arrived to a sign that said seat yourself. We went out to the patio and so did some other tables. We all sat there for 25 min and no one came to serve us. My partner went inside to order drinks for us and asks if a waitress was coming outside? They said he had to pay for his drinks up front and they would send someone out. I can understand if this was a busy weekend but the place was not busy. We waited another 15 minutes and I went inside to ask if a server was coming outside to take our order. The woman behind the bar asked how many were outside I said lots of tables. She said oh we didn't know I’ll send someone out. In the mean time the owner or manager was making himself drinks and sitting at the bar drinking. Servers standing around chatting after we asked repeatedly if anyone was coming out to take an order. Few minutes later one waiter comes out and stood next to our table. I said hi eager to give him our food order and he looked at me and walked away?! He went to the next able and asked if they needed to order. They said yes they needed to order food and the waiter looked at them and went inside!! At this point I was worried about what the quality of the food would be with this service and such a large menu and looked up the restaurant. We had dinner last night at Paddy O’Neils and unfortunately it was a frustrating and disappointing experience. The food was ok-ish. Some was good and some underwhelming. I ordered the chicken Parmesan. The chicken was good but the pasta was very undercooked and still stuck together in parts so I sent it back because it was bad enough I was not going to be able to eat it. It is how they handled this that was the problem. The pasta was taken and the same undercooked pasta then returned to me but now with the sauce separated as it had been thrown into a pan to be re-heated. I explained again that my concern was it was undercooked and hard but it was made clear that this was what the kitchen was willing to do to ‘fix’ this. I felt badly for the server because I could tell she knew this was not a fix for my concern and was perhaps aware this was a passive aggressive response from the kitchen. I still was not able to eat it but was not going to send it back again as we were clearly entering into risk of someone spitting in your food territory! Anyway, I am not a person who sends things back but I really wanted to be able to eat the pasta. I am not sure why the kitchen took this approach rather than spend the less than a dollar to make me some properly cooked pasta but I guess I must have offended them.
