Firkin and Flyer — Restaurant in Goffs

During a recent trip through Halifax Airport, waiting for our flight to Toronto, we found ourselves at The Firkin and Flyer, a delightful pub and restaurant located within the airport. The convenience and ambiance of this spot were just what we needed.

One of the first things we noticed was the two distinct seating areas, offering a nice choice depending on what kind of atmosphere you’re looking for. The staff at The Firkin and Flyer were exceptional, greeting us warmly and seating us promptly, which was much appreciated given our limited time.

While we didn’t partake in their selection of beers, it was impressive to see the variety on offer. I opted for the lobster roll, and it was absolutely delicious - a true testament to the quality of food they serve.

The service was a standout aspect of our experience. Our server was incredibly polite and attentive, making sure our brief visit was as pleasant as possible.

It was the only restaurant in the airport open. there where a few empty spots and no line so I asked if I was able to sit down. I was then told to see the Hostess by one of the bartenders. I talk to the hostess and she proceeded to tell me I can sit wherever so I go to sit down and the same bartender tells me she just asked me to speak to the hostess. I tell her I did and she told me to sit wherever. At this point she looks very annoyed and tells me fine just sit wherever. I proceeded to wait to order while there is like 10 waiters just standing there to be fair they might have had other stuff to do and it’s not there section. 20 mins go by and someone finally takes the order, I order a double because I only have time for one drink and I’m on vacation and I rarely drink I then hear the same bartender who told me to speak to the hostess say we are not making him a double and I heard her talking to a couple other people about me. The drink didn’t even taste like what I ordered. The food was actually half decent maybe because I didn’t eat at all that day before this but the whole experience was very confusing and felt condescending I wouldn’t recommend you go here but you might not have...

Horrible customer service and the worst- i mean the ABSOLUTE worst quality of food for the price. It’s Ridiculous.

This was the worst experience we’ve ever had at a restaurant. We walked in at 5:30 PM before our 7:00 PM flight. The restaurant was right in front of our gate, so we thought we had plenty of time.

We received the menu almost immediately, but people who were seated 20 minutes after us had their orders taken first—despite us trying to get the attention of the Filipino server. We told him we were ready to order as it was already close to 6:00 PM, but he gave us attitude.

He finally took our order at 6:00 PM, and we ended up waiting another 30 minutes. During that time, we literally saw people who were seated 20–30 minutes after us already digging into their food—even though they had the same dishes as we did. Mind you, those were groups of three or more.

Eventually, we got tired of waiting and asked to have our food packed to go. Again, we had to chase the same server just to make that happen.
