What a lovely spot. From the outside in, Le Grand Saut was beautiful. The wine was on point and the pour certainly wouldn't leave you wanting. The shrimp wontons were not at all what I was expecting. They were very plump shrimp just wrapped in strands of what I assume was wonton wrapper. What a great idea. Super crispy and you get the satisfying effect of chomping through a full shrimp instead of just shrimp paste in a standard deep fried wonton. The sauce that came with them was also tart and sweet and delicious. The Caesar salad had large chunks of bacon and Parmesan cheese and croutons with a nice light dressing. The salmon and mashed potatoes kept to the theme of really tasty food with a nice portion size. A mound of buttery mashed potatoes made sure I was too full for dessert haha. It was the salmon that stole the show though. There was a nice peppery cream sauce to the side which I had a bit of, but the salmon on its own was so fresh and so flaky and so perfect that I didn't need all the sauce. What a piece of fish this was! Finally, the service was so friendly and quick that it was the added cherry on top of a wonderful time. If there was one thing I would fix, it's the design of the building paired with the plating of the food. The design of Le Grand Saut really evokes a 5 star plating kind of experience. The food itself was wonderful, but a classier plating would have this place perfect.

We arrived here mid September and noticed how sleepy the town is with almost all businesses/shops/restaurants closed by 6pm, with this place and another one down the road being the only ones open to have a meal. The place was packed on the ground floor so we were taken upstairs and given the chance to choose a table as there were several large tables taken with groups of girls. Fortunately they left pretty soon only to have a group of 5 youngsters arriving and taking the table right near our corner table despite almost the whole floor being empty. The problem was not having somebody near us but how much they were swearing with 'f this and f that' girls with long lashes and caked up in makeup and guys who should have known better. I had the best pizza I ever remember (now I am addicted to only ordering pizza and not buying it anymore from supermarkets) while the rest of my party had a fish dish and fish with rice. We ate as fast as we could and left in order not to hear those disgusting youngsters speak in that un-educated manner: shame on them and their lack of education and respect for civilised, respectful people and environments. Somehow I know they are all failures.

This barbecue chicken pizza tasted like only green peppers. The sauce and chicken were completely tasteless. I told my waitress, and she said that there was nothing she could do because she came by and asked if everything was good. I explained that at that point I had not tasted the pizza yet. She then said that since I had eaten «half» of the pizza I couldn’t have to taken off my bill in a rather rude tone. For fifteen dollars I expect a consistent product so I was very disappointed when my usual pizza house favourite sucked. I also don’t call two slices with one bite taken out of the tied by my friend HALF of the pizza.

Went for drinks on the patio with 7 other people after 4pm as they advertise Margarita Mondays on a billboard outside.

The chain across the entrance to the patio and lack of customers should have been a clue, also no umbrellas over the tables.

Our group had to walk through an interior construction project complete with debris to get to the patio. We were told that they couldn’t move the tables to accommodate us and we had to order food to get drinks. (Ok) The staff didn’t even offer to move a few chairs. We gave up and went to Cozy Bar two doors down. Grand Saut has the only real patio in this town however it is poorly utilized. Canada Day, lovely weather, a Saturday it was closed. I’ve been to many towns smaller and less attractive than here, however they seem to manage a much more vibrant restaurant and patio scene. The slow death of downtown...
