Royal Wok — Restaurant in Grande Prairie

Been to this location a few times now. Have thoroughly enjoyed most of it. Today was a little off. Their menus have changed to reflect new prices. Understandable, cost of everything is up. Problem is, they are printed onto a sheet of paper off the computer. No one had realized a sizable chunk of the menu did not fit and was not on the menu. No big deal, they found me an older menu. Waitress was lovely. Easy to deal with. I only drink water and I understand how that turns off some waitresses but my glass kept full the entire stay. That means a lot. The food was delicious but there were faults. Beef was a little dry and chewy. The dish was advertised as being "spicy" but that was non-existent. Overall though, through those faults it was enjoyable and I was pretty happy with it. The flavors and sauce were very well balanced. I've been there before and know what they are capable of so those little things barely registered. It wasn't until the end of the meal that things really took a turn. I do not know who asked for this or who initiated the event. But, please do not continue coming to your customers asking for a review written with a sharpie on a sticky note. That was so awkward and incredibly off-putting. At least if it was a pen I could have fit what I really wanted to say. Great experience, no. When I walked in, first time being here, my initial thoughts were, "Quiet. Cosy. Comfortable. Smells SO good!" Also, parking was super easy as they're located by the Whiskers cafe over by Primary Care Network/Marble Slab/Once Upon A Child area.

The menu had all day breakfast options, sandwich/pasta/salad option and a delicious looking Philippine cuisine layout of options. Ultimately I chose the BLT with avocado and tempura bacon. The fries were perfectly cooked, not too crispy. The sandwich was so fresh, a perfect combination of textures and flavours. I was so stuffed that I only ate half and was still blissfully happy. As will my husband be to get the leftovers I take home 😉

The service was exceptional, efficient, oh so kind. The food didn't take long to prepare, either. My friend and I had a lovely visit as we dined without delay nor interuption. Easy to converse in the atmosphere.

Next time we go, definitely ordering off the Philippine selections, however, as a tray walked past us after we'd already eaten and we just about followed it to the recipient table, it looked...

It's sad how this restaurant just went downhill. It was so good last year. The food in the buffet was room temperature and tasted old. The fried rice was hard (which made me think that it was old), same with the meat. I told the server about this and she said she was sorry and that she forgot to turn up the heat? Even though she was really nice, she didn't do anything about it.

I didn't even wanna eat any of the cake displayed because it looked like it melted from sitting out for too long. The sushi plate was floating on water, I think it needed to be on ice?
