NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY, RUDE UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF We have visited the cat cafe many times (at least 3 times a month) my son loves it there. However today was a completely different experience. Upon getting there I witnessed a staff member being rude to two families that had went in together, the families packed up immediately and left. I kinda just brushed it off and stayed as my son loves to play with the cats. I also had my two daughter with me who are 10 & 11 not young kids. My daughter (10) was playing with one of the cats with a cat toy and this staff member was totally rude to her and said âcanât you not do that and just leave the cats aloneâ I was watching her the entire time she was throwing a string toy up to a cat on the shelf (beside the cat each time making sure to not hit the cat like I had just instructed to her) and the cat you take the toy with itâs two paws and play while she was jiggling it around. My daughter immediately dropped the toy and teared up because of how she was spoken to. We pack up and on the way out I asked are they not allowed to play with the cats to another staff member to which this staff member screams over across the counter that she wasnât being gentle. I asked when the owner would be in so I could discuss it with her and get my money back as we had been there 10mins and the rude staff member starts laughing and said oh she knows. So I was like ok perfect go get her, she laughed at me and said she deserves a day off and rolled her eyesâŠ. So she doesnât know? Like you just told me you talked to her. Long story short not a family friendly place with this staff member around. First time seeing her...
Read moreI love that a place like this exists, but Iâm astonished that there isnât an age limit. The main purpose of this cafe is to encourage adoptions. The kids and toddlers running around chasing all of the cats takes from any calmness that the environment would have otherwise. Itâs very hard to sit down and get to know a cat and whether or not it will be the cat you take home when they are all agitated from the kids poking and prodding at them while the parents sit and visit, ignoring how their children are treating the animals around them. This is a truly lovely establishment, with some very lovely and inviting staff. But I have yet to go here and have a calming experience. There are always kids running rampant and crying because they donât yet know how to read a cats body language and know when to back off. I understand this isnât the fault on the establishments half but I do hope that an age restriction, or something, is put in place at some point to help prevent such a stressful environment for the sake of the cats that reside there and the people who are trying to adopt. If a cat is in someone elseâs lap your kid shouldnât be going over and to pet and then take that cat from the person itâs sitting with. If you are taking your kids here, please be sure they have an understanding...
Read moreAngie, the owner, has the most loving and generous heart, and the most wonderful coffee making skills. She takes such thoughtful care of every cat that comes to her cafe and employs competent young people who make the establishment feel cared for and sophisticated. The soup and sandwiches are simple and divine. But, most of all, the cats are amazing. I adopted my Miss Mavis from Whiskerâs in 2020 as my covid cat and she is the light in my life. Yet, I come back as often as I can to Angieâs cat cafe, because it is just the best place! Wonderful, soothing ambience, totally conducive to a chat over coffee with friends catching up, as well as for napping with the cats in the sunbeams on the couches by the window as gentle piano music plays. Having recently adopted out 1000 cats into the GP area, Whiskers Cat Cafe truly takes the cake as my most beloved and highly esteemed local business in Grande Prairie. Visit and support Angie and her mission to help our furry four legged friends as often as you can! Happy new year...
