The Soup Can came to our rescue on a cold, blustery afternoon when all the nearby eateries gave us the shoulder ("we're fully booked," one said; "we have yet to start lunch service," another retorted). We entered the The Soup Can without much confidence because it was the only available option in the neighbourhood and my spirits dipped even lower when I realized that there was only 1 person behind and in front of the counter. We placed our order for a dumpling soup and the smoked chicken noodles soup, and prepared ourselves for a long wait. When our order came out of the tiny kitchen in an astonishingly short time and reached our table, we were surprised and how!! The dumpling soup was full of umami flavour, the dumplings themselves were well-made. The noodles soup was the star - infused with smoke and redolent with spices, it was the best experience in Napanee for us that day. When we said our goodbyes to the chef cum waiter (a gentleman in his senior years), I told him with unalloyed happiness that his soups were among the best I have tasted. The Bad: we seemed to be there at a busy time, so it took a long time to order and get served the food. But who cares? Cuz...
The Good: the food we got was INCREDIBLE. The Wild Mushroom cream soup and the Lasagne Soup were both incredibly delicious. So was the garlic baguette toast! And all at a very, very fair price. I've never said to myself 'hmmm I want to go to a soup place'... But I think if I'm on the 401 one day, I might say 'hmmm I want to go to Napanee for the soup' down the road!...

The Soup Can is such a hidden gem in the heart of Napanee! It’s a small, cozy spot with a lot of charm. I actually decided to stop by after seeing all the positive Google reviews, and I’m so glad I did.
