J’s Roadhouse Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Greater Sudbury

In response to Sofia Kraans post, I just wanted to leave a review that clarifies the Atmosphere, Service, and Food of this welcoming neighborhood restaurant during her time here. I was sitting next to the gentleman she is referring to on this evening and could not dispute her experience more. I had observed the server in question being kind, courteous and professional as she served this young woman and her friend. I witnessed the food come out, in a timely manner and even made comments about how good it smelled and looked. I watched as the server communicated what the wait time looked like to her table prior to the food arriving. I had overheard condescending comments being made towards the server from the table. There were rude comments made to question the server, when she inquired a manager how to charge her for a Large Glass Clamato, since they don't have a button for that sort of request. I mean who does? Am i right? And the gentleman who made her so uncomfortable (who appeared to come off the street, but said he was from Wikwemikong) came in ordered a beer, an appetizer and a main and put down a bill that would cover his order in front of him. The server placed the order and when the man ordered a second beer, the server questioned the man if he was driving as he had shown slight signs of possible impairment. He assured he was not and specified he would be requiring a cab when his food arrived. At this point, I knew the gentleman was in for a 20 minute stay as he was waiting for his food, and was very happy he had found a welcoming establishment to get himself a meal. We chatted as he waited ensuring he felt comfortable. His food arrived, a cab was called at his request and he left without incident. He had tried to order a 3rd beer and the server declined and informed the gentleman his cab was on the way and could not be served anymore. The gentleman in question caused no distress or harm to anyone around and to justify THAT being the reason to write a review and NOT TIP a server who handled TWO very difficult situations with grace and professionalism, and then be informed that a negative review from a customer, who claimed she "worked in the industry", is not only dishonest but disheartening. Would they not show grace and understanding themselves? Should we not create a safe and welcoming environment for anyone regardless of status?

If that's the type of drive-thru, no judgement, never serve someone intoxicated industry this individual works in for ZERO tips and then behaves like others should do better , let's all be Less. Cause if we do do better than that, we're getting a 2 star google review 11 minutes after they walk...

Restaurant looks great, really nice layout for a fairly small restaurant, really comfortable booths. Great daily deals, delicious food. I will definitely go back.

EDIT: I've been back twice now and both times I've had lackluster service, and the third time the food was very cold. It seems to be an issue of understanding as there is usually one or two waitress' on duty, so it takes a while before someone gets you a new drink, or takes your order, or cleans off the table, or gets you the bill. We told the waitress our food was cold and she offered to remake it but that was already half way through eating it and we didn't wanna wait another 30+ minutes for the food. When we got the bill there was no discount or anything for the food being cold.

My first time here the restaurant was dead so that may be why the service was good and the food was hot. But the two other times it wasn't "somewhat" busy (nowhere near a full house). A bit bummed out about this as the prices are good and I still like the...

Me and my friend came here for a late night girls dinner and talk. She had recommended it for the specialty appetizer pricing so I said sure, since I had never been there. We get there around 7:30pm and as soon as we walked in we noticed a highly intoxicated man sitting at the bar but didn’t think much of it. We ordered our food and waited for 30 minutes before it came, keep in mind my friend had only ordered appetizers and I ordered an appetizer and a burger, I can see the burger taking longer but 30 minutes for our appetizers is too long in my opinion. While we waited for our food we observed the highly intoxicated man at the bar… also keep in mind it’s a Tuesday night and the establishment closes at 9, so we were quite confused as to why he was that intoxicated, while we waited my friend saw that waitress serve him two more beers before cutting him off… the atmosphere was the worst part of the night that night and it made both me and my friend extremely uncomfortable, not to mention the long...
