Please don't eat here without reading this review. Here is a summary first to help you. 1) Don't feel sorry in rejecting giving a tip here. 2) Tell them in advance that you don't like too much sauces on top of food if you don't like to eat excessive amount of sauces. 3) Choose Souvlaki over Shawarma unless you really have to eat Shawarma. Here is details of my experience on Dec-16-2023. I am not a Guelph local. So I googled for a good Greek place. And I decided to try here at Lazeez Shawarma based on good google reviews. I ordered Chicken Shawarma with platters. And they charged me about $20. Actually I wanted to order Chicken Souvlaki because I like Greek food. However, the clerk told me that it took a long time. So I ordered the Chicken Shawarma instead and their billing device/screen asked me to input an amount of tip I want to give. 1) I didn't give the tip because I think it is unfair to ask a tip on top of food price in a fast food and self-serving setting like this. 2) When I received the food, it was covered with a thick coating of white sauces. I couldn't see anything under the white sauce because a 2~3 mm of thick layer of the white sauce is covering the food without any gap. It was very difficult not to eat too much sauce. 3) There was a thin layer of Souvlaki and a thick layer of fried rice under the thick cover of the white sauce. However Souvlaki was almost like powder. I couldn't find any real meat pieces. At that moment I could understand the real reason the clerk steered me away from Souvlaki and into this so-called Shawarma "powder". I guess they make more money with this Shawarma. This is my first experience with Souvlaki. So I don't know if this is a real Shawarma but I didn't like it. After eating here, I went to the shopping mall just across the street for Christmas shopping. I found there is a food court there. They seem to have a lot more selection and better food in the food court. I would have not chosen to eat at Lazeez Shawarma if I had known there is a food court at the shopping mall...
Read moreI went to Lazeez last night and ordered the platter as per usual. I saw the staff grab a different smaller container. It is 1/3 smaller than the standard size. I asked them why they were using such a small container. They first acted like it was the usual size. But I pointed to the lunch box size container and said no the original container was that size but completely open in the bottom. They then admitted they have new containers. The challenge is this is a platter the largest portion. It no longer appears to be the same value customers have been used to. I eat here on a regular basis. I felt this wasn’t communicated correctly and that corporate should have indicated this. The fact that staff first attempted to conceal the change and act like it had been some time since the quantity had changed left a sour taste in my mouth. I’m requesting that Lazeez reinstate the original size of the platter and adjust the price, or let customers know that they have changed the platter size. My reviews have always been 5 stars, until now. I’ve temporarily adjust it to 1 star while this matter is addressed. The platter no longer appears to be the value it was and many may feel they are getting value for their hard earned money at Lazeez. Shrinkflation stinks and I understand Lazeez needs to make a living , but it’s better to notify customers or change the name of the offering instead of adjusting it without proper communication. Hopefully this is helpful to Lazeez policy and marketing to ensure future growth and public relations. Picture reference please note that the potato is almost as wide as the...
