I'm really sorry to leave this review as I previously left a glowing 5 star review for this establishment for both food and service but something has changed in the last few years and I'm done giving them an opportunity to get it together.
First, I very highly suspect this location freezes their bagels and defrosts them as needed. Have you noticed they only have 3 or 4 of each bagel out, continuously? Recently we've been buying dozens of bagels and freezing them for home.... we tend to call ahead and they always have "exactly that amount" of whatever we are asking for. If we don't, they go to the back for a few minutes where they magically find more bagels.... but all of a sudden the bagels we are buying "fresh" are coming home obviously freezer burnt (and stale) on one side and doughy on the other.
I've been a supporter of GCB for many many years, since the early 2000s, and I'm sad to see the premium price I'm paying for a premium product is no longer the case. Also a recent change in customer service, staff seem annoyed and quite abrupt when asking simple questions (particularly about a type of bagel this location used to offer and no longer does, staff told us we...
Read moreToday I came here for a bagel with cream cheese. The menu states that a bagel is $1.40. I was appalled to go to the register and have it ring up as $3.70. Apparently adding cream cheese is over $2. I looked over the menu again, with the manager and the price isn't present on the menu. I was told to contact head office to ask them to change the menu to include this price. Once I got into contact with them I was told "yes the price you paid is correct. We don't have space to put every item on the menu." Really? A bagel with cream cheese is most likely the most popular thing ordered, and you can't put it on the menu?? (Note: they have an 8 bagel + cream cheese deal that works out to $1.50 each) They simply don't put the prices to get people to spend way too much on a simple bagel. The lady from head office was not understanding, and...
Read moreBeen my favorite bagel place ever since I was a little girl when my gramma used to take me here and get bagels. The quality hasn’t changed ever and they’re still as good as they were 20 years ago when I first had them. My only complaint, and it’s literally just a personal preference thing, is that when I had my bacon egg and cheese sandwich, I couldn’t really taste the ranch I had on it, but I’m someone who likes a strong flavour so that’s not their fault. That and they didn’t butter the bagel which is why I ultimately took a star off. And to the people complaining that microwaving the eggs makes them “watery” - that couldn’t be further from the truth. It was still a wonderful breakfast sandwich. Can’t wait...
