The first time I came here, I had a great service and the food was good. Because of that experience I came back again. COMPLETE 360. My server was extremely rude. Service time was unbelievable. I came in around 6:10-6:15. Had to wait a long time to even order, I got asked for my drink order at 6:35. I asked the server for a cup of coffee. And have her my order. I asked if wings and fries and an appetizer to go would be a long wait because I have a bridesmaid dress shopping at 7:00 (overall it did not seem unreasonable that going into a restaurant at 6:10 you can’t be out by at least 7:00) when the dress store is down the street.
As it was approaching 7:00 barely having time to drink the coffee, advised to the server that it’s almost 7:00 and I’ll be late for my appointment. If I can kindly just pay for my coffee as that was the only thing I received. The server tried to insist that I take the appetizer since that was the only part of the meal ready and sitting aside. I advised no, I’ll pay for what I have got I’m not going to have time to wait I’m sorry. The server was extremely rude and angry that I did not take it. And held the box up asking who wants it for free. A gentleman said if nobody is taking it, he will.
She handed it to him and said here you go, she ordered and now she doesn’t want it anymore. ignored her behaviour and paid for my coffee The gentleman offered to give me money towards it and I said no. The server interjected and said, no she didn’t pay for it.
I looked to the gentleman and said please take them, I don’t want it after this. I’m sorry, I am a good person I would have waited for everything if I didn’t have to be at an appointment that was not a typically time slot but was allowed as a courtesy because of unforeseeable circumstances. He said it’s Christmas, I thanked him for his kindness. And left. I have never in all my life been treated soo poorly.
I have worked for one of the biggest restaurants companies in Canada, from server to management (while going to school). In my professional experience this server should be let go because she is plain and simply bad...
Read moreWorst experience at a restaurant after 30 years of living in Guelph. We went for dinner yesterday ant 4.30pm and the service was so slow even though it was so quiet. We sat with empty beer glasses for a while and my husband eventually went to the bar and ordered his own beer. Beer came out warm. Then our food order comes out wrong, my husband ordered one haddock fish with lattice fries and got two fish with regular fries. I ordered the nacho fries and it came out with no bacon. We realized it would take forever to get the food we ordered so decided we would pay and leave and got the worst response from the manager, who was just really an unprofessional, disrespectful server. When she came to speak to us, she was unfriendly and had a sour look on her face. She didn’t listen to what the issue was and never asked how she could resolve the situation. We said we would pay for the couple of beers we drank but not the beers that came out late and warm and were told we had to pay for them plus the appetizer: I asked if they would comp the app because we now had to go eat elsewhere and was told no but she would give us a discount which was $2.50! She then wanted us to be grateful that she wasn't charging us for our dinner but if my food order is incorrect, why would I be expected to pay for it. There was no apology, even though she claimed she did apologize. On top of all that, the leg on the chair that my husband was sitting on broke while he was sat on it and again, no apology. We will never come back and there are so many great places to each in Guelph anyway. We will also make sure to tell friends and family too. By the way, we are foodies, so everyone asks us about worst and best...
Read moreI met some very friendly people from Japan here, the hostess was Australian but she never says Fair Dinkum, they didn't have pork scratchings, and the English burger "with cheese from across the pond" wasn't even Red Leicester but was described as being similar to mozzarella cheese. The pint glasses were made of plastic. Overall, a standard Canadian pub trying to pass as Irish while having near-to-nothing to do with Ireland.
I think the Ontario government should pass a law requiring Irish pubs in our province to be inspected by someone from Ireland and they would have to place an Irish pub check sign in the window identifying the pub as a "Pass", "Pass with a Restrictions", or "Fail." Every aspect of the pub should be scrutinized from beer selection, beer storage, beer quality, beer taps, and beer delivery. Style of glasses, pint glass or plastic cup? Menu; does it contain real Irish menu items? Do maple flavored chicken wings and a pint of Budweiser constitute as an authentic Irish menu item? Is the food utterly terrible? Entertainment; football or soccer? Etc.
I've been to Irish pubs in Rome more authentic than in Canada. In Canada we have Irish people making up 15% of the Canadian population. In Italy, there are less than 5,000 Irish people, or a total of .008% of Italians are of Irish-heritage. Why does Canada do Irish pubs so wrong? Why aren't there Irish pub organizations traveling to Canada to criticize our misguided and genuinely inauthentic pubs and to offer suggestions on how to make Canadian-Irish pubs...
