Old Fashioned Deli — Restaurant in Guelph

I have been wanting to try this place for a while, having seen their daily specials (especially perogies) on facebook. We were out for a family hike, and decided to stop at the Old Fashioned Deli afterward for a late lunch. What a disappointment! We entered with big smiles on our faces, and were greeted by a sour faced blond woman who never smiled the entire time. It made the visit miserable. She spoke about 3 words to us. It was like we were a burden to her, coming in to spend money. Food was fine, expensive for 3 sandwiches. There WAS another dark haired woman working there who was actually very nice, but the experience with the front counter woman was horrible. Just horrible. Never ever again will I go there. We’d been having a great day and that encounter ruined it for us. (P.s. there are no washrooms, so you have to go next door to the bakery and ask to be let into the washroom there, through the kitchen....

We had catering done for a family event and the food was AMAZING. Tiziana from Old Time Deli made the food not just how we asked for it but with even a better touch than we had imagined. As we are vegetarian, she was very respectful of our request to make sure there was no meat contact with the food. The fettucine alfredo, the 4-cheese tortellini and the veggie lasagna were even better than what we have eaten at fine Italian restaurants but at a very very reasonable price. The garlic bread was also heavenly! We had family and friends ask for her info as they also want catering done for their events. Our own family has been raving about how the good the food was for days now!! Tiziana was so enthusiastic to help us and a complete pleasure to deal with. For weeks all I could think about was this tiny deli I went to visit in New York City. Since I’m not longer there, my search for a deli that could provide me even half as much satisfaction started; I didn’t know then that I was about to find a place that surpassed all expectations. Walking in I was filled with joy to see how many options there were to choose from. We ordered an assorted and when I tell you it was the best sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. The bread is so fresh and every slice of meat is sliced to order. All jokes aside, this sandwich taste like it was made by one of your favourite people; I can happily say that the workers here have indeed become such.
