My recent visit to Bollywood Bristo in Guelph, Ontario was an incredibly disappointing experience that left me with a bitter taste in my mouth, both literally and figuratively. I had heard mixed reviews about this restaurant, but decided to give it a chance. Unfortunately, it failed to live up to even my lowest expectations.
First and foremost, the service was abysmal. The staff seemed disinterested and unengaged, providing minimal attention to the customers. It took an eternity for someone to take our orders, and we had to repeatedly ask for basic necessities like water and utensils. The waitstaff appeared overwhelmed and understaffed, leading to long waits and a complete lack of attentiveness.
Moving on to the food, I must say that it was a major letdown. The menu boasted a wide array of Indian dishes, but the execution fell short. The flavors lacked depth and authenticity, and the overall presentation was lackluster. The dishes arrived lukewarm, suggesting poor kitchen management. It seemed as if the food had been hastily prepared and lacked the attention to detail that is expected in a decent restaurant.
To add insult to injury, the portion sizes were meager, especially considering the prices charged. I left the restaurant feeling hungry and unsatisfied, which is unacceptable for an establishment claiming to offer a fulfilling dining experience. The value for money was simply nonexistent.
Furthermore, the ambiance was far from inviting. The interior lacked any sense of charm or warmth, making it feel more like a generic cafeteria than a restaurant. The lack of effort in creating a pleasant dining atmosphere was evident, and it affected my overall impression of the place.
Lastly, the cleanliness and hygiene standards were questionable. The tables and floors appeared dirty, and the washroom facilities were far from satisfactory. It is essential for any restaurant to prioritize cleanliness, and Bollywood Bristo failed in this regard.
In conclusion, I would not recommend Bollywood Bristo in Guelph, Ontario to anyone seeking an enjoyable dining experience. The poor service, mediocre food, lackluster ambiance, and subpar cleanliness make it a regrettable choice. There are numerous other Indian restaurants in the area that offer far superior quality and value. Save your time and money and look elsewhere for a memorable dining...
Read moreIn Regards to BollyWood Bistro. After ordering the $10 Thalia I would be reluctant in considering returning and only go to try ordering an individual meat curry in hopes I was provided something like I read in the reviews. I had one piece of meat in brown curry sauce, yes that piece of meat was nice, but marble sized. When you order the meat curry the one thing there should be in the dish is meat, this was lightly spiced and may have been better had I received meat instead of just sauce. The other two curries I had no choice on and were cold or very cool at best, Cauliflower & Potatoes and Pea Paneer, both were lacking in flavour on top of served cold. The best part was the Super-hot Naan bread although it arrived late it helped warm the cold curries and added substance to me meatless meat curry. Very disappointing was my tiny amount of rice, honestly I considered counting grains. Just because I want authentic Indian food does not mean I want it in authentic portions. I spent most of meal dying for a glass of water, understandable though as the waitress had three entire tables in the restaurant occupied by 7 people total count. That is way too difficult to provide a semi regular beverage offering, especially when she must run to the bar to check something every minute. The salad was horrid and in no way had flavor or authenticity relating to any Indian restaurant we have visited in the past, offered was some dry lettuce and a tiny amount of chopped tomatoes and red pepper? No dressing of any type is offered. The desert Timbit thing in the melon sauce was great and leads me to believe this must come prepackaged based on the quality and service I received. Great possibilities completely destroyed by poor service and...
Read moreIf there was a zero rating that’s what I would be giving this restaurant. Was I ever shocked the moment I walked in to this restaurant. I would call it more of a take out/cafe type place. For an Indian restaurant, there was lack of ambiance. The very very strong smell of the spices ( I left smelling of masala as if I’d been in the kitchen). The only one waitress was miserable and looked as if she had just gotten out of bed. Her attire was dirty. Her attitude was blah. Ordered masala chai and asked if they did Aloo Paronthas. She looked at me as if I spoke a foreign language and than proceeded to tell they only serve what’s in the menu. Fair enough. I had my sister from out of town we thought ok no worries. We will have tea and some starters. Than she asked if we still wanted to proceed and order the tea. I said yes we do. She turned round and said, and I quote “ for take away than ?”. I was in awe. That’s when I decided that’s it. We don’t want to dine here. If your front serving staff are that miserable wonder how my food was going to be. Oh and the kid, which I believed was the waitresses was running around barefooted moving the chairs around causing a ruckus. The waitress was telling her other half I guess who came from the kitchen to take care of her. Family run restaurant maybe… but please. I also have to have to mention about the chef who was sweating buckets in the kitchen in plain view… which was our que … and had to leave . I left baffled and mind blown. Never have I ever witnessed or been treated this way. Sadly I had...
