Had an unacceptable experience at Eggcetra today while taking my mom out for brunch. It wasn't busy when we got there, so we were quickly seated, given tea and coffee, and our order was taken. We both ordered eggs. After half an hour, we noticed that the restaurant was starting to fill up and no food was coming to anyone. We asked the waitress to check our order. She did not apologize for the delay, but she said that a large take-out order had come in before us, and she assured us that our order had been placed. After 15 more minutes we still saw that no-one at any of the tables was getting any food. Finally, after nearly one hour of waiting, we asked for our bill. Again, the waitress did not apologize. She gave us our bill and walked away. I then noticed that she included the price of the two meals we did not get served! I took the bill to the till and explained what happened to another waitress there. She reiterated that a large take-out order had come in before us and that everyone in the restaurant was waiting for food. This waitress didn't apologize either! Nor did she seem to understand that so many people had been waiting as long as an hour for food. She did take the meal prices off of our bill - though didn't offer to waive the price of the tea and coffee in compensation for our extreme wait. Needless to say, problems happen - and if we had been told up-front that there was going to be an hour wait for eggs, we could have made a decision at that point about whether we wished to wait so long. Alternatively, an apology would have at least made us feel that restaurant staff cared that we were unhappy with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGood morning folks : Yesterday I treated myself to breakfast at Eggcetera . The atmosphere is festive , lively and caring . I was seated quickly at a table for one. The cheerful, busy hostess really keeps excellent track of what is going on in the dining room . I could tell she knows the regulars and cares about them : wishing a Merry Christmas and even offering hugs to some . That is just so sweet to witness .š
My server has a personality that delights in serving and making oneās day . I didnāt get her name .
I had the classic with bacon, eggs over easy home fries and rye toast . My breakfast was done to perfection ! The home fries are incredible! I asked for crispy. They were just like what my Nanny made and one aunt makes . Iād been craving my auntās home fries and Eggcetra nailed it ! Thank -you .
It feels great to be served here as a single person . They donāt assume more are joining you , but make a single person feel welcome.
It was fun to share ketchup with the table beside me , like the ā ole days . The restaurant was very busy and short on ketchup, but I didnāt mind sharing at all . You get to chat with someone .
Coffee is delicious and so fresh !
Iām happy to see they use Frenchās ketchup, supporting Canadian farmers !!
The washroom is immaculate . No waiting for the bill even when busy . This team is so on top of serving and providing top notch customer service .
Thank you so much Eggcetra for a great...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have always had good things to say about Eggcetra, and have always recommended it to everyone I know. However just this past Sunday a group of us had gone to dine in on the patio. We arrived and were seated at 10:40am. We ordered 4 coffee's, small glass of orange juice, a side of potato fries, Chorizo Skillet, the Prosciutto ,Asparagus, Havarti Benedict, and a Traditional Skillet. I can understand it was the Sunday of the long weekend, but as we were all sitting there chatting an hour and 10 minutes had gone by and we had still not received any of our food. The only item's we received were our drinks. If our server had approached us and said "i'm so sorry for the wait, we are busy but your food will be right up", then we would have not been not as upset, but no update on the time frame of our food was given. However we were so hungry and very disappointed we ended up paying for our drinks only and leaving.
Julia, the owner of Eggcetra was kind enough to call me and explain what had happened that day. I will say she was very professional and respectful and apologetic. By no means was she making up excuses to validate herself or the staff but respectfully explained why the situation had gone the way it had. I will absolutely return to Eggcetra as i mentioned to Julia it is the best breakfast place in Guelph. I respect Julia for calling me, and being honest and truthful, which I cant say many restaurant owners are. Thank...
