TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! This is a restaurant that is only after their bottom line and doesn't care what the customer's experience is like.
Ordered take out and when I got it home I found that they had packed it in too big of a paper bag, without a plastic bag over, and it had tipped over leaking orange oil all over the bag and my car seat and tipping the rice all over the bottom of the bag. I called the owner/manager the next day and when I asked his name telling him I was a customer with a complaint he became ignorant telling me not to waste his time and to never call again. Then he hung up.
When I went into the restaurant, he was very rude, said I must have dropped it and wasn't willing to do anything because 'he didn't recognize me as a customer' despite me showing him my receipt and pictures of the oil all over the bag while the bag was still sealed. He claimed the reason he doesn't pack the paper bag in a plastic bag to make sure there aren't any leaks is "for the environment", yet he packs his take out in styrofoam.
He wouldn't do anything to rectify the situation, didn't apologize at all, and was totally discourteous. To top it off, the naan was store bought and the chicken curry sauce had the consistence of water. What Indian restaurant doesn't even make their own naan?
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. Go anywhere else! I couldn't have imagined a worse experience, but I'm sure that Dhaba (with current management) is up to the task of creating a worse experience.
Clearly the reason the owner didn't want to give his name is because he's ashamed. ...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe have been long time customers of Dhaba Express since they opened years ago in Halifax and were completely satisfied with service and food with a few minor exceptions. I would estimate that our annual spend at Dhaba was around $500 per year over the last number of years. We recently moved out of Halifax around 100 km away. For New Year's Eve we decided to get Dhaba as a special treat. We ordered one day ahead with a pick-up time of 4:45pm on Jan 31. We picked up the food (order number #168875 on time and I paid a 10% tip. The order slip indicated that all dishes were checked off and bagged. We drove home 1.5 hours and discovered that a key dish (beef vindaloo) was not bagged as was documented on the receipt. We called them and they discovered the missing dish sitting there. They said we could pick it up. We told them we were 1.5 hours away. We explained we were long term customers and were hoping for an acknowledgement that this was on them and maybe they could do a little better than offer us a dish we had already purchased. We expressed our dissatisfaction with the response and we suggested we would consider not frequenting their restaurant in future. We were told that was our choice and that was it. Wow, really bad customer relations. Surely they can do better than this! All I can say is that profit trumps customer satisfaction at this business. We will no longer give them...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love cooking Indian dishes and I am very well aware of pure Indian authentic cuisines. I have tasted Indian food in many well known Indian restaurants. So far, this is one of the worst places where I have tasted Indian food. The prices are too high compared to the quality of food. Moreover, it is not even 25% closer to Indian Authentic food. The rotiās are just heated rotiās from some superstores I think. They are making fools by serving heated Walmart naan or rotiās. Maybe localities donāt know what is authentic rotiās but at least they should make some attempt to cook rotiās. They gave some stupid sabzi in the name of KORMA. They think that we never tasted korma in our whole life!! It was bad in taste and we couldnāt even eat that completely. Lastly, in the name of lamb biryani they gave some basmati rice mixed with very fewer pieces of lamb meat!! It was not even looking like biryani and taste was even so bad. They claim highest rated Indian restaurant. Based on my experience I can clearly say that this is a highly overrated restaurant and it is not even close to typical Indian authentic food. I think people who are giving good feedback must be non-Indians who never tasted Indian food or Indians who lost taste buds after coming to Halifax. Still my stay in Halifax, I will never visit this stupid restaurant or...
