Read moreI booked moxies, bayers lake for my boyfriends birthday meal. I unfortunately wouldn’t recommend this place for a birthday. We like the food there, but the service can be bad. We were sat waiting for even a drink order for 15 minutes. A mixture of waitresses came to our table throughout our meal and there were miscommunications with what we had ordered (multiple check backs and visits to make drink orders in a row after a long time of waiting). Our table became very crowded as they didn’t clear any drinks throughout or all the plates at the end. I wanted to speak to someone about it being my boyfriends birthday without him knowing, to order a surprise desert. However, our table was a booth by the cash/order station and so he would hear me asking a member of staff as that’s where they were stood. I went over to the mid-length, blonde haired girl who was at the host station (Sunday June 4th) most of the evening as she was clearing a table nearby. She couldn’t have been less helpful, she was moody and I felt like I had inconvenienced her by speaking to her. I tried to explain why I was speaking to her and not our server (I didn’t even know who our actual server was) and she just kept saying that I should ask whoever was looking after us, essentially it wasn’t her problem. She didn’t even relay a message to our server, so i just told them in front of the table that it was his birthday. The woman continued to let us know the choice of deserts and that it was complimentary. We ordered, had desert and the bill finally arrived, the desert was on our bill. $7. I wasn’t impressed with the experience and it was a shame it ended with awkward conversations surrounding what we were...
Read moreCant cook a steak - I don't usually post on these items, preferring to take my wallet elsewhere but this time I think it is warranted. Moxies is more expensive than it competitors and so you would expect them to be able to cook a steak for a $30 price tag but I am afraid not. Medium-rare came up well over medium, when returned the replacement was barely shown the pan and was below blue, in fact pretty well raw. Unfortunately the management attitude was little better. When the manager came to see me she 'introduced' herself by poking me in the back and saying are you the one who had an issue with the steak... not a good start. While they offered me some fries to eat while they tried to cook a medium rare steak and took 2 deserts off the bill (obviously I was not about to pay for my meal either having rejected it twice telling the manager so on rejecting it a second time) I don't recall once anyone actually apologising. As a party of 7 we had shared starters, one of which was at best warm (not hot) when it arrived and of our meals 3 arrived at least 5 minutes before the other 4. That should not happen at any restaurant and is pretty basic service etiquette. Also, don't accept a table near to the front door either, otherwise beware that you will get a cold blast every 5 minutes or so each time the door is opened. This was a very disappointing experience. However, I have given 2 stars as generally the rest of the party had meals they enjoyed. The server was nice enough but he was let down by his kitchen and management. Shame they could not do better which in terms of the kitchen particularly is pretty fundamental for...
