Jungle Jims Bar & Eatery — Restaurant in Halifax

We go a few times a year, as it's a go to favorite for myself and friends. I have to say we went just before Christmas and it was fabulous, food was great, service was amazing and the manager was incredible. He apologized for a slow service that honestly we didn't notice as we were just happy to be having our get together. But have to say we were severely disappointed in today's visit. We went to celebrate our friends birthday, we waited to be seated, and it took a few minutes to be acknowledged, we were seated, but after 10 minutes of waiting we had to go ask for a server. (This was after a server came to the table next to us and asked if they wanted desert or anything else, looked at us and walked away without acknowledgement) I even stood up was watched by the staff at the bar taking off my jacket and they turned an ran into the back. I will clarify while it was supper time 5pm, the restaurant wasnt packed as there were only the two tables in our section and the staff didnt seem to be run off their feet. Our server came to take out orders, wasn't friendly ( no idea of his name as he didn't deem to introduce himself) his service was subpar at best, and the fish and Chips weren't very good, the inside of the batter was raw. I'm hoping this was a one off as we enjoy jungle Jim's and it's our go too for our get togethers but have to say this visit left a bit of...

Normally, we love it here. But tonight was different, today we received coupons in the mail. We decided to head out seeing how they are doing the spend your height sale (for kids). When we get there, we ask about the promotion we received and of it is able to be combined with the spend your height deal. Our server told us yes, that this works. So we ordered our food and recieve our bill which does not have the kids sale taken into account. I brought this up to the server, and then he goes back to check coming back to let us know that the sale cannot be combined and that we have to pay as is. We then spoke the the "manager" who told us that even her code won't work and that there is nothing that can be done. We stated that we should have been told that it does not work, and she agreed. But, once again told us that there is nothing that she can do. Once we made it clear that this was not a smooth process as we were not informed correctly we went to go pay and then hear the server ask if we even tipped.

Very disappointing, and something we will be thinking about hard...

Menu Changes! Went for their wing night, was not told that wing night has changed to a price per basket rather than the set price for as much as you want. Only found out when I brought it up with my server asking about the layout being columns rather than the normal circle. Their website still has the original all you can eat menu posted for wing night.

If you've never been here before the food they 'cook' is grocery store quality as in its the same as packaged meals you just need to reheat according to instructions. Id bet the most prep they do is mixing a salad and dropping pre portioned packages in a fryer. There is no quality in the food thay they fling out of the 'kitchen'.

It's also a hit or miss with your server and you are lucky if your server is the one who actually serves you, when it gets bysy other servers, kitchen, bartenders bring the food and drinks when the actual server is constantly no where to be found. Trying to ask for anything from the person who showed up to serve you results in them saying "no, I'm not your server, you'll have to wait for...
