Sushi Shige Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Halifax

My wife and I enjoyed a beautiful Monday night dinner at Sushi Shige tonight - consisting of the most artfully presented and curated fish available anywhere in this city. The simplicity and austerity of their new location adds to the focus on the food, and attention to the spotlessly clean dining room. The service was very attentive and not overbearing in the least. Everything was prepared 'a la minute', and without delay - an advantage to there only being 5 tables available for seating. Congratulations to the family team, on their new venture! A must, for those who appreciate more than the usual dishes available at many Japanese restaurants in Halifax. Incredible disappointed. These salmon sashimi I ordered might be the smallest pieces I ever seen. Surf Clam is not fresh. Also order Oyako Don and Salmon Teriyaki. Same level as Japanese buffet restaurants.

Add on June 9th,2020. To respond to owner’s reply: If I didn’t eat the Surf Clam, I would not know it is fresh or not. The salmon pieces are very very small. The picture shows the full piece. Your restaurant were used to on my To-Eat List. I don’t have to and there is no intention to defame. However, your reply are trying to say the salmon because I eat half piece, take a picture and saying it is small.

My family and I dined at Sushi Shige and had a fantastic time. It is an authentic Japanese cuisine restaurant with high quality sushi and sashimi. The dine-in experience was cozy and the staff was helpful and tended to the table regularly. It helps that the place is small and has about 4 or 5 tables only.

We tried a variety of dishes. The portions were reasonable and the fish was fresh. My family liked the teriyaki salmon and their miso and udon soups. The fresh ginger was appreciated too and is better than that pink stuff other restaurants serve. The only thing is that it was a little on the expensive side (should probably be $$$ rating).
