The Pickled Piper Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Halton Hills

This review is coming from someone who is a waiter at another well-known chain of restaurants. I believe that the manager and the staff of this restaurant are not at all aware that there is a pandemic going on!!! Not only this but they are extremely unprofessional in their service. Firstly, I walk in and the manager gets up from a table with all of her friends, puts her BEER down and seats us at a table. I have never seen a restaurant where the manager is actually DRINKING ON THE JOB!!! I couldn't believe my eyes. Additionally, my waitress had a salsa stain on the back of her hand THE ENTIRE NIGHT!!! She did not wash her hand ONCE and we are in the middle of a pandemic!!!! Additionally, not a single staff member at this restaurant was wearing their mask correctly, the nose was completely exposed the entire time. Both the manager and the staff did this because clearly if the manager is drinking on the job then the manager cannot lead by example. This type of stuff would NEVER be allowed where I work. I will never be setting foot in here again, at least for the remainder of this pandemic and I suggest you all don't either. It is completely unsanitary and no rules are enforced. I gave this place a 2 star just because the food was average but nothing you can't get anywhere else. And at least at a chain restaurant there are actual rules that are being enforced to keep...

We went in on a Saturday afternoon 2ish. Not busy, just 3 or 4 guys at the bar. Had never been so decided to try. Server very nice, friendly and helpful. Food was average. Just before we received our food, a customer came in with a parrot on his shoulder to let the server know he was there on the patio. No problem. Except the server got so excited over the parrot that she rushed out to have the parrot perch on her. She was out there petting the bird for a few minutes. She came back in to get our food from the kitchen and to serve more drinks to those at the bar - WITHOUT washing her hands. A few minutes later the cook went out and was gone for a few minutes. I couldn't see whether or not he touched the bird but he didn't wash his hands when he came back in either. I could see the sink from where we sat. The server went out a few more times because of the bird. I love all animals, including birds, but sanitation should be a must. We will never go back. We were looking for a place in Georgetown to have dinner. Why Georgetown? We had never eaten there before and wanted to find a gem. After searching through reviews we found a place that looked ok. While driving there I noticed the pickled piper and told my wife to quickly look it up. They did not have a menu online but the Facebook page had such great reviews we thought to give it a shot. It had a nice layout. Beer selection is the same old macro brews you find everywhere else(the only reason this doesn't get 5 stars). We started with calamari which came out fast hot and delicious. We were very hungry so that was great. My wife got the soup du jour (which was also the soup of the day) cream of cauliflower. It was delicious. We both ordered wood fired think crust pizza and we were blown away. So good and crunchy crust. Not dry at all. Cheese right to the edge and not skimpy with the toppings or cheese. A real treat.
