NEW REVIEW: I had to update my review as my most recent experience here was not a good one. May 31st we had a large party to celebrate my brother's birthday. I ordered the clubhouse with no bacon. When my sandwich came out I was eating my french fries at first and then went to move on to the sandwich. After taking only one little bite I had miraculously eaten all the chicken that was on that piece of my clubhouse sandwich. I then took a look at the rest of the sandwich and there was barely any chicken on it whatsoever! I was shocked. I called the server over. I'm usually pretty easy going but when I say the server did not smile once at our whole table of 13 people she was not friendly no smile whatsoever. I explained to her the chicken is missing off of half of the sandwich after one little bite you're telling me I'm just gonna eat bread with lettuce Mayo and cheese? Everyone else of course is eating now and I'm having to wait for my sandwich to come back out of the kitchen. When I finally get my meal it doesn't look any better!! The chicken is missing off of half of the sandwich! Especially since I didn't order the bacon why wasn't there chicken on the full sandwich?!?!?!?! I have never in my life ordered a clubhouse sandwich and had chicken missing off of the sandwich to the point where after one bite all you have left is bread and lettuce. This is unacceptable and to bring it out a second time with it looking pretty much the same way?? For a large group and the amount of money we all spent I am very disappointed. I just gave up after the second time and took whatever I had left home. You can even see from the pictures I took of my food that there's barely any chicken on it. You guys really need to do better the quality of your food and also the service has definitely gone downhill since I last visited.
OLD REVIEW: I grew up in Dundas so I've been coming to the Collins off and on for over 4 decades now. So it's about time I did a review. My most recent visit was a girl's night out with my cousin. We each ordered a beer and we split the bruchetta as a starter. It was very tasty with lots of toppings on it. I had the baked chicken penne and my cousin had the club sandwich with a side cesar salad. The portions were very generous and my meal was really good! My cousin also enjoyed hers and we both had left overs for home. The only down fall is service was slow and our waitress had us waiting quite a while before we even ordered a drink. My cousin had to ask for a water refill. In my eyes that's something a server should be on top of especially when their section isn't super busy. We had a great dinner over all and will...
Read moreI have been a resident in Dundas for the last 20 years and have been to the Collins many times with friends and family. I recently went last weekend with my girlfriend for a night out and was seated on the patio. I am not one to ever write negative reviews but after my last visit, it is well warranted. I wish there was an option for zero stars. The waiter was friendly but was way over the top and kept interrupting into many conversations I was trying to have during my peaceful dinner, for no reason. We ordered the mojitos. You would think for a $14 cocktail you would receive something of equal value. No. The mojito didn’t even have mint but we were told instead it was made with a house sugar to replace the mint, and was served in a skinny glass, that tasted no where near a “mojito”. Next, the waiter recommended to me that I try the peppercorn steak with goat cheese on top as I love steak, so I ordered it, medium rare. This was the most disappointing thing ever. For a nearly $40 steak, it was served almost completely uncooked to the point that I couldn’t even cut it or bite into the steak (see photo attached), this was just so disturbing and disappointing that a restaurant would even allow something like this to be served! I showed the waiter and he was even shocked at the steak, even telling me his manager was surprised to see it after he showed them. They offered to cook me a new steak, which at that point I had already lost my appetite and my girlfriend had already finished her meal. The new steak arrived much later and was cooked well done not even medium rare, as I ordered, but at least it was cooked this time. Lastly, I was given the bill and was extremely surprised to see that I was actually charged the full amount after being served a raw steak and ruining my whole meal and experience. The total was almost $90 before tip for 2 mojitos, an uncooked steak, and a club sandwich. This was an absolute rip off and I wish it could have been made up to us as we used to enjoy the Collins. I will never return here and I’m surprised a place like this is still...
Read moreOur party of 8 had reservations for a table. I arrived first (about 15 minutes early) and asked for our reserved table. We were told the opposite side of the restaurant was going to be very busy and noisy as there were some large groups going to be seated there so would we prefer to be on the bar side of the restaurant? That seemed like a good idea, so we took our table and within a few minutes half of our group arrived. The other half we never did see (until later)
We had four different waitresses serve us throughout the evening; one acknowledged our reservation and showed us to a table, one brought us the menus and told us about some specials and took our drink order, one came back to deliver the drinks, a different one served us the food.
Two beers came out right away. Two coffees (ordered at same time) took 25 minutes to arrive. No explanation as to what happened. We had to ask three times for the coffee. When our meals arrived the fries were cold on all four plates; one person asked for extra tartar sauce, (asked three separate times), I finally got up and found a fifth server (who wasn't with our table) to get us the tartar sauce.
Near the end of our meal we got a text from the other four people who are supposed to be joining us. Turns out they were there in the restaurant all along. They had entered a few minutes behind us but from a different door, told the server that they were with our party under the same reservation and were seated at a table (a separate table from us). So we ended up not seeing them through the meal.
We went over to their table while they were getting their checks. Their waiter was very nice and accomodating to us and asked if we would like anything to drink or some water while we were waiting or anything else to make our evening more pleasant. He was very attentive and friendly; I never got his name (because he wasn't our waiter) but I did snap a pic. The other four waitresses (that we had had) were not attentive to us. This was a Thursday and it was not busy...
