I think this is one of the best smash burgers in Ontario. It’s certainly one of my favorites.
The product is always fresh, properly smashed without being beaten to death. Always willing to be accommodating. The fries are also Housemade and great. Onion rings are incredibly solid too, and even their veggie offering, which is sort of a riff on Shake shack’s portobello burger, is fantastic!
My only criticism is that management doesn’t seem to support the staff enough. I asked why there was no tipping option on the POS system and staff said their manager told them it would cost extra money - that’s absolute BS, having worked in restaurants for 10 years I’ve never heard that and never had an issue with a POS system, adding a tip option. Even if you were ringing through credit sales that included a tip, you would still only lose one percent, which is simply the cost of doing business.
They also had their cash box stolen, so they were no longer accepting cash as payment, which makes it increasingly difficult to tip the staff. That’s reasonable for a day or two, but it’s now been over a week… plenty of time to make the necessary repairs and get a new cash box.
There is also a fountain soda machine that has been “out of order” since they opened, and after asking a little bit, I found out that it was an old machine that had simply been left there with no intention of ever hooking it up .
This is one of the best burgers in the golden horseshoe but the restaurant itself needs to be somewhat better managed. If they need some changes, such as management worrying about the small details, and supporting their staff a bit more, they could be one of the best burger shops in the Ontario, not just a good burger shop with an...
Read moreWe have been doing some work out of town in Hamilton and have eaten here the last few weekends for dinner. I have gotten 2 double burgers each time. I did not feel like getting food poisoning while working so I figured burgers was a solid choice .
Overall the burgers are OK. I don't crush them with toppings ( pickles, ketchup) and the patties can be slightly dry. I know they are a smash burgers ( I worked at the original Burgers Priest in east Toronto before the blew up so I know a bit about smash burgers ). And they can defiantly be more juicy. Maybe if you crush them with toppings they are slightly better. But that should not be the case.
The inside needs a touch up. Its fine if you are going after that minimal sorta dive bar look but dust and stains on stuff where your getting food is not appealing.
The price is fair. The staff seem fine. And I have gone back two weekends in a row. I just think it could bet better with just a few small tweaks. I think the mix for the patties they use could have a higher fat ratio.
Anyways. I do like this place. If I did not care I wouldn't give a detailed...
Read moreI had a mate a couple years ago who worked at Delirous Burger on Locke and cooked me the best smash burger/bag of fries I had in a long time.
I went in for dinner the other night and bought a few burgers and fries for my family to see if it was still any good and it was utter garbage… The meat was cooked on both sides too long that it wasn’t even meat. I had a double burger and it felt like it wasn’t even a single. There is someone who needs training on the grill… the fries were old fries that had been redone multiple times because they were crunchy. Not even crispy. Plus the quantity of fries were lame, if I’m getting a bag of fries I don’t want little bits to fill half a bag, it’s rubbish. Just the quality overall has gone downhill. Who’s training the staff? The poor blokes have no idea how to cook a burger and fries, it’s unfortunate.
I don’t usually complain but it’s really disappointing that whoever the new staff aren’t like my buddy’s crew back in the day. Sad to see burgers and fries being sold like this. I hope the owner ends up helping the staff get properly trained. C’mon Ben I...
