After a day at the Royal Botanical Gardens, found this on Yelp. We decided to try the place. Glad we did.
We had the Coconut Shrimp appetizer, Fish Tacos, and the seemingly recommended Fisherman's Platter.
The evening started off with what to use was a potential no-go. A Mojito, that she stated had no Rum. I had to agree. The syrup may be too strong, but they did add another rum, and the Mojito was perfect thereafter.
They also had one of my favorite beers (Newcastle Brown Ale) on tap, which is rare to find.
The Coconut Shrimp was perfection. We could have had nothing but, and been delighted.
The fish tacos were good, unfortunately we have a bias based on a trip to Half Moon Bay in California. That said we would order these again.
The Fisherman's platter was fantastic. Scallops done perfectly, more of the wonderful shrimp, only fried this time but as tasty. The Fish portion was generous. As noted in other reviews, this is among the best in this class, we've ever had. Highly recommended.
All the sauces provided were tasty and worked well with the food. We substituted Sweet Potato Fries, for the regular due to dietary needs, and these were among the best we've had. The food was served hot in all the orders.
The staff here is more than professional and friendly. We felt valued as customers, which is rare anymore.
We will return in the future when in the area. A solid 5 out 5 based on our...
Read moreWe like this place and it is popular in the neighbourhood. The food is certainly acceptable pub food but nothing great. Food is kind of pricey for what it is. We normally get fish and chips or fisherman’s platter. Service is pleasant and reasonably attentive. Cocktails are very reasonably priced but a little watered down and not sophisticated. (For instance they use packaged cocktail mixes for things like long island iced tea, rather than making a genuine long island iced tea, which is normally a boozy drink made with cola and 3 or 4 different boozes.) I am usually shocked by the bill considering the unsophisticated and mundane fare. That said we like the pub atmosphere and it is in our neighbourhood so we still go every several months or so. Last time we went there we ordered two fish and chip meals, a fishermans platter and 3 cocktails and the bill came to $100+ before the tip. So like very pricey for what it...
Read moreMy wife and I came here for lunch with one of our kid's and what a great experience. We got there right before the lunch time "rush". There were only 2-3 other groups of people when we got ther, but only had a few empty tables when we left (perfect kind of busy). Our waitress (whom I forgot her name) was absolutely friendly and helpful. We got our order of drinks very quickly, and the food came not long after. All of our dishes were great. I had the Philly steak, which was very nice, my daughter had the kids' nachos, and my wife had the wings and Ceasar salad. Despite there being more and more people showing up, we never felt rushed out. Overall, definitely 5 star, I recommend this to anyone one looking for some great pub food or a drink. A, so considering this is kid friendly, we will surely...
