Hungry Dude — Restaurant in Hamilton

Got a “Dude Burger” and a small poutine. Poutine was much bigger than I expected, but otherwise nothing to write home about. It’s poutine. The burger completely fell apart as I finished it, but was made up for with its incredible flavour.

Staff was incredibly friendly, and the owner (?) struck up conversation about the freshly-ground meat they use in the burgers. It shows—you can really tell the difference between this and mass produced meat.

There are multiple AI-generated images being flipped through on displays that seem to be made with fans…? I couldn’t take any good pictures of them. They feature a drooling emoji-person (likely the titular “Hungry Dude”) eating various foods, mostly burgers, fries, and poutine.

AI is a massive dealbreaker for me, and is the reason I began writing this review in the first place. AI-generated images used in businesses for promotion or advertising make the product look cheap and the owner look lazy. If you can’t be bothered to hire an artist for your wall art, it isn’t an unfair assumption to make that you also can’t be bothered to make good food. This, of course, isn’t the case at Hungry Dude—the food is delicious and clearly made with care—but it does still leave a sour taste in my mouth. I likely won’t be returning here unless the AI “art” is removed.

Apologies for my strongly-worded review; I’m very passionate about this topic. I do believe this is a good restaurant, and I’d love to see it get more attention—without the use of AI.

Hungry dudes is absolutely delicious and a bit of a hidden gem with where its located. I had the pleasure of trying these guys when they had a super amazing deal... Let's just say I ate there every single day while the promo was in effect haha... The Cheese Burgers are out of this world delicious. The meat is freshly ground daily and is halal. They are smash patties that are perfectly seasoned while on the grill and it's like a peppery party in your mouth and you are the only person invited.... They are topped with all fresh ingredients and the pickles are sooo freaking yummy, they are the perfect sour dill pickle! The dude sauce is also extremely delicious, I like it so much I get it to dip my fries in as well! The menu price is definitely worth it but if you wanna try them when they are a bit cheaper they have a cheeseburger deal with fries and a pop for $11 every Monday if you need to be sold first before you wanna pay the little bit extra, that's cheaper than any other burger combo out there, especially it being fresh and not frozen beforehand. Don't walk , RUN! they also have absolutely incredible crispy chicken that is again fresh and made to perfection! If you wanna try that out you can come on Tuesdays and get a Spicy Crispy Chicken combo (you can ask for non spicy as well) for 10 bucks! A steal if you ask me! The manager also told me that they will be opening a Stoney Creek location in the future so keep your eyes open for...

Detailed review So we saw this place on Tik Tok and knew that if we tried to attend on promotional day It would be a zoo. As we have experienced in the past, any time there is a promotion the volume of people increases tremendously along with the stress levels of the staff. So we decided to check this out on a random Tuesday where we could experience what would be as close to normal as possible and it did not disappoint

The food is absolutely incredible! I got the double cheese and mushroom burger with a small poutine and I could barely finish it. The staff was friendly, attentive, and really personable. This is not high class but it's local grass roots home cooking done right in front of you. The place was clean and cozy. The bathroom is smaller, not dirty but also not what you would get at a chain. Again it's not chain food.

Come with a big appetite and leave full. It's so nice to have a non-chain alternative. For those leaving a 1 star on promotion day, I would encourage you to come back on a day where you can really experience what day to day would look and taste like and give them a fair review, heck the local multi staffed Chinese buffet can't handle promotion day let alone a small family run business.
