I’ve been a major fan and supporter of this chain for almost 20 years, however I’m quickly losing interest. Ordered recently from the upper James location, spent approx 80 on 3 Montfort pitas and 2 orders of home fries. Placed my order at 9:10 only to be called back at 9:30 and asked “where are you” and told to hurry up, they’re closing. They advertise being open until 10pm. Food was alright.
Tonight I again called in my order at 9:10pm. On my last visit I was told they were in fact adjusting their hours to be open until 10pm for the summer months. I was told that the owner, needed me to be there in exactly 15 mins because yet again, they’re closing early!!! I ordered 3 Montfort pitas, a souvlaki dinner, a grilled cheese pita dinner and home fries, the bill was 118.00.
Got home only to find out that my pitas, were stuffed full of lettuce (something I’ve never had before) and pineapple, with very little to no chicken. The 18.99 grilled cheese pita would feed a small toddler. NOT WORTH the money they’re charging and disgustingly inflated compared to the 11.99 it was a few years back. It’s bread and cheese, salad and potatoes 😩
Saddens me how drastically the portions sizes have been reduced, the quality has hit a new low and the prices have continued to skyrocket far beyond the typical inflation increases we’re seeing these days.
Perhaps if they returned to their original food standards, and looked over their pricing, they’d start to fill their tables again; and have need to increase their hours instead of decreasing them. Staffing is hard in this business, but even harder when a restaurant Isn’t seeing traffic and tips are a main source of income for staff.

Read moreToday I visited the Montfort restaurant on Upper James in Hamilton for the first time. I am not from Hamilton and the sole reason for my journey was simply to try out this restaurant.
Overall it was a good experience with some room for improvement.
What I liked: I ordered the Montfort Sandwich which came with a small salad. I found it very tasty and the serving quite generous. The chicken was cooked and cubed perfectly. The Pita was nicely toasted The included onion salsa and garlic dressing were also quite good. Their menu is full of wonderful Greek fare and well displayed. The price of each meal is reasonable for the quality and presentation.
What disappointed me: I used the washroom and found that I could not lock the door of the cubicle. When I came out to wash my hands, there was nothing to dry them on. The paper towel dispenser was empty. Not a big deal but it does matter with first impressions.
When I received the bill, I was stunned to find that the single cup of orange pekoe tea I ordered cost $4.20 plus tax. I have never paid that much for a cup of hot water and a tea bag. A specialty tea yes, but not Orange Pekoe. And no refill! This put a real damper on the enjoyment of the meal I had just eaten. A cup of tea should not cost a quarter of the price of a full meal. Very disappointing indeed. Soft drinks would have been cheaper.
Considering the first and last impression I had of this Montfort restaurant, I would still recommend it for the enjoyable lunch I received. If I ever return I will be certain not to...
Read moreHonestly, this was abhorrent for portions:cost. $170 and we got two meals to share… the Mixed Grill, which is two skewers, 1/3 cup dry crumbles for chicken shawarma, maybe an 8oz cup of rice, and an 8oz cup of Greek salad, which we were charged an extra 2.50 for without being advised on the charge. The second meal was $70 Mezza, for maybe 1/4 cup of baba, 1/4 cup hummus, 10 shrimps, maybe 1/2 cup over cooked calamari, and maybe 12oz of tabouli (the ONLY semi decently portioned item). We had to ask for the rest of the pita that came with our meal, and order an extra falafel platter to fill us. The falafel platter was $13.50 for FIVE falafel, no pita, and two small sauces. The server also gave us the mixed grill when we asked for the deluxe- the mixed grill has pork, if we didn’t eat pork we would’ve eaten that without knowing…. After we ate (because we were so hungry and he barely checked on us, when we were the ONLY table in the restaurant) we asked which meats we received, only then we found out it was pork. Terrible, terrible prices, and no care for those who have dietary restrictions clearly. Don’t waste your money. We only went because La Luna, the Hamilton OG, was closed. Aside being rushed continuously an hour before they close, we just left and we’re starving. Can’t express this in enough words, DONT...
