(edit, my new review. to see old review please scroll down.) Previously 4 stars, lowered to 3 because they have become so stingy as of the last few months. they add less and less meat every time I order here, and if you dare ask for some cucumbers on your chicken on rice, they will add a measly 5 pieces, if you're lucky. and on top of all that, the machine asks if you'd like to tip. I'm not sure if i should blame the employees, they aren't themselves asking for the tip, it just pops up on the machine. it is probably the store manager who had that idea, and probably them who also had the idea to have so few workers, and tells their employees to be stingy with the meat and toppings. I hope this changes in the future if they want their customers to be satisfied.
(PRE EDIT review below) I love the food here. I always get the chicken rice shawarma.
service is a bit slow, as there's usually only 1 person whose both taking orders and making the food. so no full 5 stars for that. they aren't too generous with the meat, but personally I don't mind that as the food is quite flavorful. their rice is very good, you can tell it's been spiced, unlike some other shawarma places which serve the chicken on plain white rice. don't get me wrong, I like plain white rice but the spices really make a big difference here. and of course the sauce they put on top is very delicious. very generous with the onions here as well if you like to put some as a topping. although, I asked for cucumber as a topping once and they only put maybe 5 very thin slices on which was pretty disappointing. they will also give you a really nice, fresh and still warm naan bread to go with your food.
TLDR Pros: flavorful food. their rice is very good! fresh naan bread to go with your chicken and rice flavorful sauce generous with onion toppings
Cons slow service due to only 1 worker both taking and fulfilling orders. not generous when asking for cucumbers as a topping. in fact, very stingy with it. not the most generous with the meat. I wouldn't say stingy...
Read moreThe shawarma and garlic sauce here is good, I'll admit. However, I don't think it's acceptable when someone makes a mistake and not only can't admit and apologize for it, but be rude about it. In this case I believe it was the manager who knowingly offended me. If you mess up realize it, own it, be genuine and fix it! You don't treat customers like that, it's not right.
I called in for lunch after a lovely experience the night before for dinner and asked if it was ok to place an order. As she happily took my order she told me it would be ready in 10 minutes. I got off the phone and told my boyfriend how great it was that I thought the manager was working as I truly thought she was a very nice lady prior to this experience. He wanted to grab a few things on the way there and I told him we couldn't as the food would be ready in 10 minutes. We got there and it was busy-which is no problem!! We patiently waited....for another HALF HOUR. I told her I was the pick up order and she continued to serve others before me. She hadn't even started the order. She could very much tell I was not happy as she continued with another order as mine sat next to my money waiting to be cashed out. I told her I don't mind to wait a half hour for the food if she could be honest next time. Her reply? "The rice is always ready". Lol,...
Read moreMr. Chicken Shawarma is amazing. Everyone who works there is so friendly, and the owner is such a nice man. I love to support local small businesses, especially when everyone there is so helpful amd friendly, so this is my go to shawarma place. It doesn't hurt that the shawarma is really great too. LOL! Their white sauce is absolutely to die for and I am always saying just a little bit more sauce whenever I order something from there. I have had the lamb as well and it is amazing too. I will also share a tip that I was given that, if you like onions ask for extra onions in the rice but then ask for extra on top of the white sauce too. They give it such a great crunch. If you like Shawarma and want to support great local businesses, then Mr. Chicken Shawarma at 800 Queenston Rd. in the Gulliver's Square Plaza should definitely be...
