Safin Grill — Restaurant in Hamilton

I was very hungry and wanted to try something nearby while my friends were shopping at CF Lime Ridge Mall. My obvious choice on Keto was to have some Chicken and Salad. I particularly searched for Middle-eastern style restaurant as I love the Shawarma cut grilled chicken. I spotted this just a few meters from the parking lot, reviews seemed good, so I thought of giving it a shot.

As I approached the place, I could already smell the aromatic flavours of the chicken being fried on the grill pan. As it's covid time, only 4 people were allowed inside at a time. Had to line-up outside waiting for my turn. I ordered Chicken Salad with extra meat, extra white sauce and extra hot sauce. After looking at the serving my friend also decided to order just a small serving of extra chicken with only sauces. I loved my meal, just what I was craving after a half day hike at Albion falls. They also gave me a pita bread along with my meal. My friend enjoyed his snack too.

First I would like to mention the place was empty at lunch. I ordered the chicken and rice dinner. The picture on their website shows a large dinner with lots of white garlic sauce so i ordered that but that was not the case. They give you a small container 1/2 filled with rice plus skimp on the chicken the lady tries to stretch it out on the rice. This is pathetic. Unacceptable for the price you are paying. No toppings like other places. I left with a 3/4 filled small container not the large they show this is misleading. Also, they heat everything up she had to heat the rice in the frying pan then the chicken like it is yesterday's left overs. Gee, why bother I could do that at home myself. The tiny salad (which consist of a few lettuce leaves no toppings) leaked all inside the brown bag in my car I had a mess to clean up. I feel ripped off close to $20. This is not how you deal with customer s if you want our business. You need to treat people fairly with food portions. It is extremely expensive for barely any food. Honestly, there is no place in Hamilton that makes me want to tip more than this place does. I'm generally against tipping as social expectation, but damn, every time I exit this place, I want to tip them the same amount as my meal cost.

The service is just so excellent. Every time. It's so genuine. There are 3 guys I recognize (sorry, I don't know any names) and all are extremely courteous and lighthearted. I believe the lady tonight was new or training and despite the hectic dinnertime crowd, she matched her co-worker in having an easy smile and working hard.

And the FOOD. Be prepared for a big ole mess of sauce (their own mix, mild, garlicky), shawarma (generous portions), and all the toppings.

Their hidden treasure, though, is the falafel. So many places just fry up premade unflavoured chickpea patties and call it a day.

Here they pull out the tub (recycled mayo bin from the white sauce, I bet) of fresh spiced homemade mix and deep fry the paste perfectly into falafelly goodness before your very eyes.
