I’m very disappointed in the “fresh” bread that this bakery offers on weekend mornings. I went to grab some bags of fresh bread, only to realize when I got home that it was not fresh at all and most likely made the day before and put out in the morning. This happened once before and I let it go, however this has happened many times since then. The second time this happened I went in store to complain. I suggested that they should a sign in front of the bread baskets to say that it is not fresh bread, to which the lady at the counter agreed and kindly gave me 3 additional buns for the inconvenience. This has now happened a third time. I called for a manager with my husband who said they were busy however I refused to leave until I got assistance. He was very rude and admitted that it was old bread and said fresh bread was located BEHIND the counter. He kept pointing his fingers at my husband while talking, yet told me to lower my voice? I saw a lady pick up the last bag of old bread and told her it was not fresh. She was surprised and said “it’s not?!” and I told the manager to take care of his customer. I was trying to bring a problem to his attention, to which he had no desire at all to resolve and just wanted to argue with his customers at 8:00 in the morning? He didn’t even suggest compensating me for this- I took home $8 old bread.
It’s unacceptable for a BAKERY to sell old bread, especially on a weekend morning, and not properly advise their customers. This is extremely disappointing and I am completely unsatisfied with the product and customer service from this management. If you are going to sell old bread and advertise it as fresh, you should donate it to the homeless people that are constantly on the corner of Upper Paradise and Stone Church. Give back to your community instead of charging $8 for old bread. This store is supported by so many European families that want fresh bread for breakfast in the morning but this is not the place to get it. If you’re looking for a good bakery with FRESH bread, go to Costco, Ola portuguese...
Read moreI have been going to Sweet Paradise for a number of years, I have watching first hand, the serious decline in customer service as well as the portion sizes decrease drastically ie: the buns are at least 60% smaller, but the prices keep rising (that's just one small example, I could go on) Their food is excellent (no question), the staff are NOT generally friendly, nor do they care if you do voice a complaint. The deli/bakery staff are so damn slow, they ignore customers standing there waiting constantly as they "clean" I litterally timed it last time I was in (it was NOT busy), I stood for 12 minutes before being served in the deli, there were 5 or 6 staff behind the counter, but only 2 customers being served at the time, then I order 5 or 6 different pounds of deli meats and wait another 15 minutes, then now upon check out, they charge us LOYAL long term dedicated customers for bags!!!!!! Are you joking me? When I voice my concern to the cashier, the response is " well we pay $400 a year for bags and you have to pay for bags anywhere now a days" REALLY????? I too own a store, I supply not only bags at not charge because, that's the least i can do for my dedicated loyal customers but I supply "BOUTIQUE" bags..(triple the costs of the bags, they are charging customers for).not cheap crappy bags. Maybe the owners could sell there super high end fancy cars and downgrade a bit so they can afford to supply bags and maybe keep their loyal customers. Also maybe they could put some of their access cash into training their staff and teach them the old long forgotten rule "THE CUSTOMER COMES FIRST" ALWAYS!!!! I am no longer going to be a dedicated loyal customer to this establishment, as I have just experienced far too many negatives and seen far too much decline over the years, its just not what it used to be and thats...
Read moreReally disappointing! Have been shopping here for over 15 years. On a recent visit I purchased 3 Steak and Potatoe pies $8.99/per. These were the frozen pies you have to cook yourself. I cooked them that night and much to my disappointment there was NO steak in these pies. Several large chunks of potatoe but no steak. I called immediately and spoke to Colin who informed me I would need to come in the next day with my reciept and speak to Sylvana. The next day I went back and took the 1/2 a meat pie still in then tin pie plate as an example of what I was complaining about. I was surprised and frustrated when as opposed to an appology I was told "we never get complaints about this pie" Sylvana then proceeded to go into the back of the store and then returned and asked me to follow her to the cash. Sylvana then proceeded to credit me for 1 meat pie, I stated that i was expecting reimbursement on all 3 pies which then prompted a man to come out of the back(the boss) who Sylvana then told I wanted credit on the pies I ate!...HUH! I scraped them off our plates into our green bin and then we ordered pizza. I explained this to both the boss and Sylvana. The boss informed me I would only get credit for what I had returned. I asked him if he wanted me to bring in my garbage to which he walked away, Sylvana smuggly stated "yep bring them in and we will give you credit". Seriously??? Sylvana and the Boss were both rude, unappologetic and most importantly made me feel like I was trying to pull one over on them. I will never go back to this store...I honestly thought that initially it may have been a one off on the lack of meat..but nope. These folks do not care one iota about customer service and after reading a lot of these reviews I can see that there is a common thread here...Sylvana and the...
