6/3/24 went there with my friend Paul from Hamilton - he recommended this tiny place for a very inexpensive meal that was filling and satisfying. Sorry, didn't take any photos - however!!! Here are my thoughts: Dated restaurant - simple, clean, looks like an old style resto that probably could use a little update inside - we all know how expensive that would be and I believe that the owner wants to keep the pricing low - and therefore leaves the decor as is. Customer service - counter staff were pleasant/polite and smiling - unlike some "chains" we regularly visit lol. Listened to the order, didn't interrupt, even offered simple suggestions - very good! Food - fast, hot, decent portion for the cost, delicious - had Beef Basket - comes with fries/coleslaw (not bad) - had gravy on the side (seemed like it was homemade). Food was excellent for the cost. Fries were not overcooked or soggy - they were crisp and very good - average sized. Beef sandwich was shaved roast beef smothered in gravy on a nice soft bun. Coleslaw was simple, but had good flavor - I liked it. Drinks were just basic choose from the cooler - nothing to say there (they DO have chocolate milk) - saw on the menu after I ordered - they have Milkshakes - should have tried one. Menu - Diverse, lots of sandwich type options including beef/chicken/hot dogs/burgers/gyros/souvlaki/salads etc... good choices for lunch or a quick dinner. Operating hours - open late for the drinkers lol - Sun-Thurs 10am -2am and Fri/Sat 10am-3am!! Cleanliness - Restaurant was very clean. Washroom was very clean. Overall... great place to drop in and grab a quick bite. Fast service, hot food, great pricing - $8 - $20 obviously higher the more you get. I recommend this place and I WILL be...

They excel in the roast beef on the bun, and their famous homemade thick gravy. Many other options there also, burgers, dogs, gyros, salads and huge assortment of beverages. When cooked properly, the fries are good, golden brown (need a bit of seasoning) like some salt & pepper or vinegar or ketchup. The roast beef basket comes with fries and small cup of coleslaw. Generously stacked roast beef, with gravy squirted on top or on side (your preference.) Large dine-in facilities, with cushioned booths or take-out. Service is quick and efficient at a reasonable prices, they take all currencies i.e. debi cards, credit cards, cash. Plenty of parking and finally restrooms are in working order ( Men’s & Females.). Cheapest economical, fast food restaurant, been around for years, a West-End landmark. Sure a lot of McMaster student’s frequent this establishment. On this date 05/02/2024 everything was satisfactory. * EDIT* on a recent visit to this restaurant on 09/10/2024 we went there for dinner. Had ordered the hotdog, wife ordered the roast beef on bun and a order of onion rings and 2 pops. Both were extremely POOR! The hot dog was like rubber with a stale bun (and who puts toppings mustard & onions under the wiener? Wife said they’ve cut down on the quality of beef on the bun and was tasteless). This place has gone downhill, compared to what it used to be. Plus the owner is miserable and unpleasant, treats his employees like crap. We will NEVER...
Read moreWatching the news a few weeks ago, I saw a segment where a man was telling viewers about Tally Ho. He referred to it as THE ORIGINAL Arby's. Not by a long shot! I know people who have been going to Tally Ho since it opened over 35 years ago. The atmosphere is from that era. It's like walking back in time. Back when food was prepared from scratch, a family owned restaurant, not a chain, fresh food, not frozen, real roast beef, not processed, with a taste that makes your mouth water. I've been going there since it was recommended to me a few years after moving to the area in 1988. I drop in every chance I get. It's like a special treat for me. There's usually regular customers telling new people how good it is while waiting for their order. Other customers who drive long distances just to grab a bite. I always call my neighborhood friends to ask if they would like me to bring them something. It's now a regular thing. All I have to say is TALLY HO? I visited my son in Dundas 2 weeks ago. He wasn't feeling well, but he was hungry. I brought him the roast beef platter. He has never been there before. It was gone in a blink. He really enjoyed it, and he was grateful. If you want to enjoy a truly great meal, I advise you to order an extra side of gravy. You will want to drink it from the dish! Go to Tally Ho Restaurant, enjoy your lunch or dinner, and come back here to add your own review. I'm sure you...
