Who can complain? It's good. There's are a few differences but ofcourse everyone's recipe is going to vary from family to family ...I did enjoy the sicilian arancini the sauce very much was very similar to the flavors of my mom's i love that it comes soooo close to ours.....so that was great! and the others I got which was mozzarella and the ricotta was good too my daughter loves the plain mozzarella... it's definatley making me want to make my own like mom did ofcourse nothings ever going to be as good as mom's but I also enjoyed and I know I'll be back again. To be fair as a sicilian myself I'm going to mention some of my criticisms with alot of love and hope it's not taken wrong.. because yet again I came looking for something too difficult to make on my own so I hope it's helpful in anyway by sharing my honest opinion.
I was dissapointed the outside layer was more of a panko breading and not seasoned italian bread crumbs.. Also the sauce is so good with peas. N besides eating them in an arancini hate peas lol but...it just adds something to it! It was odd to find no peas.. esp in a regular sauce... and lastly the arborro rice is over cooked over mixed. It waa wierd as your eating it's like mush more like a pudding texture... rather than rice.. all the flavors I can truly appreciate though.. and i was also surprised by how small these were. I'm used to arancini that are the size of actual oranges. I've shared pictures just out of love for arancini. It's just hard finding anything that comes close to mom's in all my life your arancini are the only good ones I've tasted in hamilton in the last 15 years.. I'm not dissapointed I just felt compelled to over share. Thank you. I will be a repeat customer just saying.
The first photo is an aracini from your store which is really small. In comparison to a standard size that's why we call them arancini Not tangerines ppll will pay the 3 to 4.00.. each but as long as it tastes good which yours do bigger...
Read moreAmazing food, in the two times I've ordered from here the arancini are well portioned, each one is a perfect mix of crispy and soft with flavorful insides. They are also hands down the best reheated take out I've ever seen, with them feeling good as new out of the air fryer.
They also feature a wide variety of options and rotate in some different flavors each month.
The service is friendly but very 'family business' if that makes sense. The owner and his crew are definitely putting their all into it, with the heart coming at price of some structure. For instance, one of the types I ordered today two hours in advance ended up being out of stock by the time pick up rolled around. Fortunately, my Dad had called in to try and add a bit more to my order, so I found out and was able to call in and make a substitution. On top of that, while the balls are all color coded, you need to remember to have an employee help you identify and mark the boxes before you go.
The website is buggy, with some pages being unclickable dead ends, and some defunct pages coming up if you get unlucky. Somehow I found the page for their old half price fridays deal even though that is no longer offered.
This time around, they also slipped a religious pamphlet in my bag, which just came off as peculiar to me.
End of the day, they have a rock solid base of food, I'd expect the business aspects around that to gradually improve as business increases. Definitely worth a try if you like...
Read moreThis was our first time visiting and were greeted by a very friendly gentleman named Peter. He was very welcoming and helpful suggesting we look at the screen to see how their takeout process works. We ended up getting the takeout special of 24 for $24. They are tasty little morsels of deliciousness that have a crunchy exterior surrounding a soft, moist and fluffy risotto mix with different fillings. We tried the Sicilian, Mushroom, Chicken Parmesan, and Ricotta Spinach with the marinara sauce (fav) and creamy garlic dips. They are about an inch in diameter and for 12 each it was just enough for our late lunch/early dinner. So far all are wonderful but our favorite was the Ricotta Spinach. I imagine the frozen take home ones would cook up beautifully in the oven or an air fryer. These would be nice to bring to a potluck. The storefront was easy to get to but I really hope they will be open for takeout more than just on Fridays. Looking forward to the next time and trying...
