This is my first time here. Our servers name was Jade, and let me say what an amazing server. Very attentive, made sure all our needs were met, kept our drinks topped up, and made sure our experience from beginning to end was great. We were informed the kitchen staff was short-handed, so our wait would be slightly longer. However we still received our food in good time. Our apatizer was Pretzels with beer infused cheese dip and it was amazing. Honestly the highlight of our dinner. Good portion with lots of cheese dip, enough to smother every bite. For the main course, I got the sesame chicken bowl, which came as a recommendation, and it was pretty good. A bit on the spicy side, so if you can't tolerate spicy food, this dish isn't for you. The toppings were fresh, and the flavor combination was very well thought out. The presentation was on point. Although I wasn't a huge fan of the 4 deep fried chicken bites. It seemed a little bit luster in quality, considering the price of the entree. We also got the Tin Cup Burger. It was well put together with good flavor. Deep fried breaded goat cheese. All the toppings were great. The "hand made" burger patty had great flavor but was a bit on the dry side. Basically, your run of the mill tap house burger. It's not going to blow your socks off, but it gets the jobs done, great thick cut fries, crispy on the outside soft and creamy on the inside. All around this is a nice place to get a drink and enjoy some apps. However on the entree side the Price vs food is a bit on the high end considering the quality of the dish itself. Paying in the mid 20's for a bowl, I expect more. The food was well prepared and the presentation was on point and our service was amazing but I was not particularly wowed by the quality of the food. Except for the Warm Pretzels they...
Read moreWent in to Tin Cup a couple weeks ago. We were seated rather quickly. We were given menus and greeted nicely and told our server would be over to take our order. We waited almost 15 minutes for the waitress to come over and it was not overly busy. Since we waited that long we knew what we wanted to order which were a couple of apps to go with our drinks. When I ordered my drink the waitress turned around and walked away. We waited about another 10 minutes when another waitress came over and asked if we had been served. We explained what had happened and she took our food order. It was all rather strange. The drinks took a couple more minutes to come out and the food was not far behind which was great. We had the pretzel and beer dip and the Jalapeno and cheese stuffed bread. The pretzels and dip were amazing. The flavour was great and the pretzels were everything right about a pretzel. Dense but soft and fluffy with the right amount of salt and butter. The cheese stuffed bread was ok. It was slightly hard and difficult to cut apart and chew. All of the topping fell off when trying to cut it and I am certain the plastic crayola scissors would have done a better job at cutting than the knife provided. It was a mess. The drinks were made pretty well but come with a hefty price tag for small mixed cocktails.
The food and drinks overall and combined were mediocre with the pretzels saving the day. The service was very good other than the bit at the beginning of our evening. I would give them another shot and try different items next time. Good...
Read moreWent for mid-afternoon lunch/supper. Noisy place but we took a window seat in the mid-afternoon sun. Gina was our server. Good service. We each got a 9oz glass of Gretzky Pinot Grigio - $15 bucks each. My son highly recommend the burger but I chose the Ultimate Cheese Steak sandwich and my date chose fish & chips. Her fish (haddock) was perfectly battered. Came with fries & coleslaw. Overall, quite enjoyable. Gina cautioned me that the Ult Cheese Steak came with very hot jalapeño peppers- I guess she was thrown off by my white hair. You know, old guys need to be treated like kids, etc….. I asked for salad instead of fries as I knew they would be frozen deep fried taters. Both arrived together. Salad with balsamic dressing was ok. Had arugula lettuce, julienne carrots, and one cherry tomato sliced in half. I was underwhelmed. My UCS was already cut in half, so that saved me one task. I slice of what looked like processed jack cheese was melted over the open bun. The half that I ate there had no jalapeños that I could find; had some fried green peppers and onions, but overall, again, underwhelming. “Ultimate” was a misnomer. We both took home our uneaten portions. In my younger days, I’d have wolfed both halves… Anyway, that was an expensive lunch; food, wine, tax & tip came to a hair short of 100 bucks. Had the other half later in the early evening and that’s the half that had the one small, not very hot, jalapeño ring. Overall: meh. We’d have been better off spending 1/4 of the cost at Burger...
