West End Pub — Restaurant in Hamilton

VERY disappointed with Westend tonight (December 16th, 2023). Usually this is one of my friends and I's favourite places to hang on the weekends, good food, good drink, good atmosphere. One of the bouncers, Laurie, was always very friendly and kind, even when it was full and we got turned away. Tonight we went around 11 and had a TERRIBLE experience. Bouncer was a tall man with a dark beard. When we approached he just stared at us for an awkward amount of time, until my friend finally spoke up and asked if they had room for us. Instead of saying they were full, he got very close to her and said "WOW what a nose on you". When she looked obviously offended he continued "it's very beautiful but wow" which came off as very creepy. We asked again if there were any tables available and he started going off at us because apparently we were supposed to know that they would be busy due to there being a UFC fight on the TV and it was apparently ridiculous for us to ponder about getting a table. At some point during this confrontation the manager came out and kindly asked us how many people needed a table and went to check on the wait for us. Manager came back and kindly explained to us that they would be no table available for at least 45 minutes and that we could come back to which we happily thanked him (manager was a good guy). As we were discussing what our plan was as a group, my other friend noticed someone she new on the patio. She stepped forward to wave (NOT into the bar, NOT past the bouncer) and the bouncer LUNGED and aggressively grabbed at her and yelled at her. We quickly left as we were very uncomfortable and a bit scared. My friend who the bouncer made the nose comment about is VERY upset, and so are the rest of us. Did not get his name but this bouncer really made me question if I ever want to come back to westend, which is...

We came in as a group of four yesterday (August 16) and ordered a white sangria, cosmo, 3 Speed, and diet coke, along with nachos, mac & cheese bites, and a burger. The server didn’t write anything down, which already made us a bit uneasy.

About 5 minutes later, the diet coke and beer came out. Another 5 minutes passed before the cosmo arrived, and only then were we told they didn’t have white wine for the sangria. My friend switched to red, which still took another 5 minutes to arrive.

Food was staggered as well — nachos and bites first, then the burger about 10 minutes later. I had ordered extra mayo, which never came. The burger itself was dry, flavorless, and lukewarm — I couldn’t eat more than a single bite. The fries were dark brown and tasted like old fryer oil, completely unappetizing. The server never checked on the food, so I didn’t feel comfortable saying anything in the moment.

Later, my friend ordered a gin lemonade, which took another 10 minutes to arrive, and this was with the restaurant not being busy.

The one positive of the night was the security guard — super kind, welcoming, and had good vibes at the door. Unfortunately, the service and food did not live up to that standard. Overall, it was a slow, disorganized, and...

Came here Friday night no one greated us it wasn't busy so we went to sit at the bar and was completely ignored until we managed to get one of the waitresses attention. They were all to busy drinking and talking to thier friends.... the waitress came over and said "what.." so we asked for a drink menu and she rolled her eyes and grabbed us one.. we first ordered a beer and a mixed drink which was reasonably priced and I went to pay and my boyfriend goes wait don't pay let's get a shot of Baileys .. so we ordered 2 of those which somehow the 2 shots came up to over $14 and the little shot glasses they told us were 1 ounce which we both knew they were definitely not. We asked to see what they used to show that they were 1 once and of course the waitress was like... "no" then we asked to speak to the manager and the one waitress said no they aren't here which then the other waitress came over and said I'm the manager which then the other waitress said no she's not.. needless to say we will never be going back there again with the disrespect we...
