Review for Rolly’s Restaurant – A Rare Angel in Hospitality
As a travel blogger, I’ve been on the road for nearly two months, moving from hotel to hotel every 2–3 days. Living this way gives me a front-row view of the hospitality industry — and sadly, I’ve seen how much it has declined. Owners treat it like just another business, managers lack true leadership, and staff are often hired with no empathy or passion for serving others. Even the managers in many of the hotels I’ve stayed at failed to show the basic care and connection this industry is built on.
That is why meeting Stevi, a 15-year-old host at Rolly’s Restaurant, was such a powerful experience. When I reached out for help, he didn’t hesitate. He made calls, spoke to different people, and even offered to take his break just to support me. I watched his sincerity, patience, and genuine kindness — qualities that have become rare in hospitality today.
Having trained staff in five-star and three-star hotels myself, I can say with confidence that Stevi carries a natural gift that many professionals, even managers, don’t. At just 15, he embodies everything hospitality should stand for: empathy, patience, care, and a human connection that leaves a lasting impact.
I call him an angel because that’s what he is — a reminder from the universe that true hospitality still exists. His parents must be so proud, and I am deeply grateful to have crossed paths with him.
I truly believe Stevi will grow into a true example and a mentor, someone capable of fixing the gaps in an industry that is otherwise falling apart. The way he works, with heart and integrity, is exactly what hospitality needs to be rebuilt on. And today, I openly invite him to join my team whenever he is ready — because people like him are the future of this industry.

Rolly's is a decent local establishment, and has some of the best pancakes at this end of the Fraser Valley. Very few low carb options are available, but if that isn't an issue for you, the menu has a lot to choose from.
Great shredded style hash browns, but usually underdone unless you ask to have them done extra-browned. I just sent a plate of undercooked, pretty much not browned at all hash browns back to thr kitchen to be properly browned, and the second plate came out the same way: just slightly browned on the outside, with just plain white potato shreds all through the inside.
And the normally great pancake syrup was watered down today, so the pancakes I ordered were left on the plate. Hopefully that is a one off thing, and not a new trend.
Rolly's is one of very few local restaurants that had the courage to resist the government's unlawful 'vaccine' passport mandate during the Plandemic. Although I could take or leave the meal I had today, this restaurant is worthy of your faithful patronage; so if you haven't been to Rolly's before, I hope you'll pay them a visit.
Oh... and the coffee is always...
Read moreI came here with a group of 6 and we all agreed our food was about roughly a 6/10. It took about 30-40 minutes to get our food, which if the food had been worth the wait I would have been less bothered by. But it was a long wait for items that typically don't take long like burgers. As it is the food was essentially slightly better cafeteria food, although I’ve definitely been more satisfied by other cafeteria style spaghetti, and no one was really satisfied by their burger.
The highlight for the group seemed to be the milkshakes and I did also enjoy my pie (although the ice cream was meh for ice cream), but then again you’d hope pretty much drinking ice cream would be a slam dunk for any restaurant to get right. Overall if you’re heading out to a bigger city in either direction that has more food options, I’d try and hold out for somewhere else if I were you. I just don’t see anything about the food, value, service or decor that makes this any more worth stopping at than the next available restaurant, but if you’re in a pinch and you absolutely have to eat it could be...
