So people often ask why I only give 4 or 5 stars, and that is because I don't review places that I don't like. unless it is really bad. We spent the weekend in Invermere BC, which I recommend to anyone. it is just a fabulous place and an amazing town. now nestled right in that middle of that fabulous place is the Invermere Bakery. We had coffee and baked goods EVERY MORNING including a special trip to load up the morning we left. Now to be clear the staff there are FANTASTIC! Super nice and really good at what they do serving customers...sometimes a long line. And the lattes were OFF THE CHARTS, and if you leave that place without taking a donut, or apple fritter to whatever is on display there you have missed the WHOLE POINT of the name. it is THE INVERMERE BAKERY! GOT IT? Good. then do it.

If you’re in the area, this is a must stop! This is our favorite bakery of all times after living in Portland and Seattle! The sweetness level is always perfect, ingredients are fresh and yum!! We stop here every time there is an opportunity for brunch: always quiche(all are good), soup sometimes, rhubarb pie is the best(free samples on Saturday), tried almost every dessert and they are all incredible! Coffee, lattes, cappuccino, chai tea, you name it. Highly recommending!

The bread and donuts here is very fresh made every morning. As an iconic bakery shop in Invermere almost every tourist will come here to buy something. Also it’s a hotspot for local citizens too. Lots of choice for bakery including donuts, breads, danish, also they have handmade drinks too worth trying. Location is close to the town centre with lots parking available and it’s free. Also every Saturday until September near the bakery is a farmers market too.

I'm going to preface this review with that I grew up in Invermere, and I worked multiple summers at the bakery when it was known at the Quality Bakery. Hence, I appreciate the chaos that occurs with all of Alberta descending upon the bakery. Further, I will always have a soft spot for the bakery (and everything and everyone in Invermere, really). The Valley is the best ❤️

That said, letting folks jump the line to pay for stuff - when the till person is also the only one taking orders - means that the whole lineup waits while to you attend to the line jumpers. Ten of us waited while two line-jumpers were serviced. I get staff might be apathetic and not care to tell a customer to wait in-line with everyone else, but forcing everyone to wait while attending to line-jumpers is totally out of character of the bakery and not a positive experience.

Recipes have changed, and not for the better, unfortunately. The pastries are now pretty bland. They don't taste like the Swiss gems of my child(and young-adult)hood. For example, the jelly donuts were fried before, golden brown and crispy on the outside with brown sugar, and had tarte raspberry jelly with seeds on the inside. Now, they're white or slightly golden (soft, not crispy) on the outside, dusted with icing sugar, and have a raspberry filling that tastes mostly of sugar. The original was SO good. It was a magical combination. I get that cost of goods is bananas right now, but this is my plea to bring back the tasty raspberry jelly donut! 🙏❤️

Anyway, I hope to update this review in the...

We experienced our biggest joy together with our biggest disappointment with this bakery. The pastry chef... best words to address, but the staff in the front are incompetent and not honest. Based on the fact that I ate the best lemon cheese cake of my life, I decided to go home with two giant cheese cakes, so that... I have enough for my whole life. when I ordered I mentioned very clearly that I want the same as the one I ate today, which was told to me as to be lemon cheese cake special slice. It had base of crumbs. cheese cake, lemon curd, blackberries and shaved chocolate. I received two ordinary sponge cake, no lemon curd, no blackberries... nothing. The tall gentlemen that took the order guaranteed that was the "cake"... obviously incompetent and he doesn't care. This I call stealing; I want to mention also that what they pack is not what you order .. 3 x times we ordered something and we got...

Wow what a disappointment! Went yesterday for just some sandwiches and stood in line for 40 mins to pay despite sandwiches being premade and grab and go from display case fridge. The woman in line in front of me only wanted to buy 2 loaves of bread she also just grabbed from display. The cashier was moving so slow it was practically backwards despite a very long lineup. Their system is terrible! Someone asked to open a second till to pay for those not ordering drinks and staff said no to wait in line. The cashier hand typing in each and every item then staring confused at the screen was painful. It took everything in me not to run outta there. 5 staff standing around behind the counter and no one had the wherewithal to get this line moving. Worst part, sandwiches weren’t even good, dry and flavourless, hardly any toppings. Wont be going back. small town bakery huge...
