Harold's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Kamloops

Part three added , as they are now threatening us for telling the truth .We usually go there for many, many years. And always excellent service. She always tops up our coffee right away. After she serves the plate she's there a couple of minutes later. Check-in to see if everything's OK. Well, today was a terrible experience. We had a new young inexperienced waitress that I've never seen before. She's very rude and has no communication skills. She dropped placed our plates on the table and then walked away. And then I tried getting eye contact with them and they wouldn't look at me and even continued walking further away from our table not checking on my plate. I actually had to call out. And Say "excuse me " and all of a sudden, I got a bad attitude. She came over, and I said. "These potatoes are below par.They're burnt to a crisp .I don't really have a lot of time.I think it's fair that you just take a little bit off my bill." She replied :"no. I'm not reducing your bill. " So I looked at her and said "well then. I'm not gonna eat this meal and I'm not paying for it. " So then she said , :"oh yes, you are gonna pay for it or I'm calling the cops," so I told her " go ahead. Call the cops and make it quick. I don't have much time. I have to go to work. And then when they show up and see the burnt potatoes, they will agree with me and they will say that they would not pay for that either. She had a bad attitude this waitress needs to learn how to do business and treat customers correctly. If it weren't for the past experiences and the good staff that have been there before. Along with the good food, I would probably never come back , this one waitresses actions was shockingly below par. She is very, very rude to say. I'm gonna call the police because you're not satisfied with your meal. does that make sense to you ? anyways, I was so upset. I lost my appetite and did not enjoy my meal. After that, the manager graciously took $2 off the meal price which was reasonable. Because money's not the issue, it's principles here and bad behaviour And that's one waitress that did not get a $20 tip today like I usually tip the lady that usually serves us.

Now it being 3 months later.We thought we would give Harold's restaurantt another try low and behold the same rude waitress was there to greet us at the door so I kindly said table for 2 When she sees us down with the menus , I then said may I have another Waitress please I said nothing other than that. The rude Waitress. from before Took offence to that And told us to get out of the restaurants And lied ! She Said that we were swearing That Is a lie and went to the manager Angry and asked us to leave We have been going to this restaurant for years and now we will never return Because they are extremely rude And the waitress is I not reasonable and Is a liar . Harold's restaurant has Just lost two Too long time patrons That had breakfast there. Now we would rather not go Because they are extremely rude and the lie to save her feelings . What a joke I Will never come back . We pretty much figured that this must be the owner's daughter. She's rude. She's a liar and she's bad for business. We will never, ever come back and we're gonna tell everybody about this rude behavior and spoiled childish ways . I see that more people have said the same thing as me and they will probably go out of business before you know it. Because they've jacked their prices up to and their foods, not really that good anyways . Just a bunch of rude behavior from a spoiled brat that lies.

Now a week later it continues . Will thease slanderous people quit ? Just now I was told by my girlfriend that this rude waitress has searched my Facebook and in a harassing way told her to tell me to take down this posting in a threatning manner.. That they will charge me with slander. Wich is rediculouse. When it's them lieing and starting problems with thier bad business ethics .Its my freedom of the truth & speech. I would not waste my time in posting this if it was not true . Harold's is...

I vaguely remember this place being good when I was younger, but that was a minimum of probably 25 years ago at this point. My wife and I stopped in here for a quick dinner after a long day spent in the car. I had read reviews about it when we were looking for something to eat, and we thought okay, we'll give it a go, the reviews weren't terrible. Sat down and ordered our drinks, I needed some sort of coffee after 12 hours in the car. This coffee has to be the weakest, most terrible tasting coffee I have ever had in my life. There wasn't even a remote flavor of coffee at all, it was black water. Second thing is, don't ever come here if you're disabled in any way. I've got a severely sprained ankle that I shouldn't even be walking on, and needed to use the bathroom, which is down a winding staircase. If there is a handicap accessible washroom here, they did a great job disguising it as it was not clearly marked. Not only that, but thinking about it now, I don't even think there's a ramp to get into the place. How can a place like that stay open?

Anyway, I digress. It's hard to rate the food, my wife didn't hate hers, I didn't really enjoy mine, so I guess it wasn't godawful. However the service was completely atrocious. After taking our order, and then delivering our order, we didn't once see our waitress again. When we wanted to pack up and leave, my wife wanted a to go container, so I grabbed her plate, hobbled up to the counter, and asked for one. I took the plate with me hoping that she would take the hint that it was horrible service. Hobbled back to our table, packed up my wife's food, got our bill, paid it at the counter, making sure to only leave a 3% tip, which honestly is far more than she deserved. Most people would have left no tip, but I'm hoping by leaving a miniscule tip that she'll realize I was tipping low for the terrible service and not because I'm cheap. Either way, this is one place we won't be back to when we come through town. The disabled washroom issue alone should get it shut down. Again, unless I'm mistaken and they've hidden it someplace else. I'm almost tempted to walk back in there this morning and ask if they have one, because aren't all buildings legally required to have disabled access, especially something like a restaurant? I mean, you're not missing out on anything by not being physically able to come here, but still, to not allow physically disabled patrons, that's just disrespect and entitlement, which is normal to see in Vancouver, and I guess Kamloops has now gone down the drain as well.

TL:DR Sub-par food, horrendous service, coffee that shouldn't even have that wonderful name associated with it, and no disabled access that I could see. Avoid this place at all costs, it's just not worth...

Red Alert! Buyer beware! Kamloops Harolds Restaurant!

I was asked to post this on their behalf because they don't have social media.

At 2:15 pm today 2 Indigenous Elders went into Kamloops Harold's restaurant to eat lunch.

They ordered Salisbury steak and the other fish & chips. When they recieved their orders around 2:40 pm, the fish was bad. Rotten. So the elderly woman politely called the waitress over and informed her discreetly that the fish was very bad. The waitress took the fish and left the fries and gravy and told her she will only charge her for the fries and gravy.

The elderly man tried eating his food but after the bad fish and his company losing her appetite he had lost his appetite to eat so only had a few bites of his salisbury steak and few bites of potatoes.

They recieved their bill and the elderly lady asked discreetly if she could see a menu but she was certain that fries and gravy wasn't $12.00 and the waitress told her that she didn't have time to argue with her about the bill.

Both of the Elders, still being polite, discreetly asked for the manager to which the waitress replied there wasn't one there at the moment. The waitress then told them that if they didn't leave right now, she was going to call the RCMP.

They took their bill and paid for both of the dishes minus $6.00 and the elderly women said that her brother would have left a tip for her but she has a tip for her, she told her "here's a tip for you, you shouldn't have treated seniors this way". She then again threatened them more sternly that if they didn't leave right now, she will call the RCMP.

How disgusting is this?
